My custom SDA cable

Well I was organizing my closet full of audio crap most of it is Polk Audio Parts, and I came across some Audio Magic (spector) speaker cables that I have had and never used. I also found a box of Audioquest bananas as well.

My 1.2tl's have been modded for a banana plug for the SDA cable.

So my brain went into a quick project mode:tongue: I went out to the garage grabbed my soldering iron, Cardas solder, and some shrink tube.

This project took all of 15 minutes..

This is silver wire in this cable. I cut and twisted both wires and soldered them (I did not take a pic of this) too fit better in the bananas, and of course used the shrink tubing to finish it off.

mycustomsdacable045.jpg

I have enough cable and bananas to make one more if I ever needed it..

Fun quick project for the cost of some crap laying around doing nothing. I will put it in my rig today.

By the way my parts closet looks so much better with everything being in it's own box.

Yep, I eleminated the Pin/Blade outlet and put in a binding post.

Jesse (F1nut) sent me a Pin/Blade end that has been split in half and the Blade is just there for support. Both wires in the cable are soldered to the Pin.

It is fact that the blade does nothing for the SDA signal..

Thanks for that info!! I should have guessed that. When I was modding these I was wondering what the little white wire was for on the inside going from the blade on the binding post cup. Now it makes sense..

    Thanks Jesse.

Agreed. You should always have extra parts for your main speakers. At the very least one driver of each.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I like them, I found them to be a nice upgrade. I know I could have built my own and I did with some speaker wire I had laying around. But I was ordering from sonicraft and just added these to my order..

That's a great idea to convert that pin/blade to a banana plug. Have enever been able to locate a factory SDA cable for my 1c's. I may have to "re-engineer" now that I've seen your handywork Larry!

Talk about a wall of sound.... :) Are those Sony MF-SS515's along with their smaller brother on top? ?3rd row in? I have a pair laying around and have read that replacing the xover will make a huge difference, always liked the sound out of them...
