Im looking into getting a surge suppressor, voltage regulator and my two choices thus far are between apc and panamax. I want to spend somewhere around 400 dollars, does anyone have a preference or which one might be better than the other? All input is appreciated, thank-you!:)

It's probably a toss up. I've used suppressors from both (although never in that price range) and both make quality products.

I have had the APC unit for a few months. Never had an issue and excellent customer support.

Panamax definitely. One of the better sounding units available in that price range. I have Panamax, Monster, APC, and a high buck Furman. I'll take the Panamax anyday.

I also have used many different power centers over the years including Monster , APC , Panamax. I currently have a APC only because I wanted battery backup for my Control 4 system , Apple TV and Cable DVR so if the power went out , I wouldn't lose a hard drive.

As far as performance between APC and Panamax for sound quality , I didn't notice any difference between the 2. They both are high quality units. It comes down to what you need , how many outlets , battery back up, PC monitoring etc. I love my APC as I have 12 outlets on the back vs 10 on the Panamax. I use them all.

    Panamax.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Either as they are both quality units that anyone would be hard pressed to tell a difference (apples to apples)

That's probably true but he did ask for a choice, so I picked one. It's fun.

Ok, I'll pick one.............APC...........but the Panamax is just as nice. Ok, the Panamax..........yes but,,,,,,the APC will perform as well. So in the end I'd say APC..............ah hell, be like most and just get the Panamax,,,,,,er, uh,,,,I meant APC.

Just in case someone is interested, Vanns is having great prices on S10 & S15 Power Conditioner with battery backup

    S10 - $249.99 shipped
    S15 - $299.99 shipped
These are super heavy, so the free shipping is pure gravy!
