Linn audio equipment

I recently started looking into upgrading my current "low end" onkyo set up, and found a very nice sounding set-up used at a local high-end audio store (ovation ultimate). its a Linn amp and preamp, rated about 60 watts rms. my question is, is Linn equipment very reliable and worth the money typically asked for them. i did not get the product number on the products, but the pair was $600. its a 2 channel set up, and its going to power a pair of updated rta 8tl's and an unmodified set of monitor 10's possibly (switching them out of course). does all of this check out? what is everyones input on their equipment?

Lynn gears are pretty solid, well built and neutral. If you have a chance at a great price, go for it. But get the model number and check the used market fair value price before going for it...Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
Linn gear works best as a complete system. They have matching amp , pre and speakers. They usually go bi amp or Tri amp. Last Linn just I did I use 6 mono blocks to power their speakers. Sounded really good. They even made their own tri wires , they where ugly but the correct gauge and lengthDan

here is a few pic's random

Casual listening they sat on the couch and enjoyed good music , when he wanted his 2 channel the speakers got repositioned as well as the blu chair. The gear is hidden behind the couch in a cabinet controlled with a MX900 and MRF350 base.Dan

I have a Linn AV 5100 speaker system, and I love them. All Linn speakers are
4 ohms, so you need a good amp to power them. Very Natural and Musical!Linn AV5140 fronts

how well do you think their equipment would really match up to a set of rta 8tl's with rd0198's tho? im almost thinking this is going to be overkill and wont be able to appreciate the Linn equipment
