Saw it last night. My wife and I were enticed by the trailer when we were at the movies a month or so ago. We were hoping it would be of the same caliber as The Departed... Not quite as good as I had hoped, but still fairly entertaining and suspenseful. Decent acting. I'd give it a B. See it at the movies if you're interested, otherwise, it would be a good rental in a few months.

Plenty of huge holes in the plot. It's just an OK movie, not much to brag about.

I watched it after buying it on Blu-ray. I should have rented it. The entire movie was nothing more than what you would see on a TV version of a group of bank robbers. Personally, I was disappointed. Especially after watching the trailer, what a let down.

While mildly entertaining, I definitely would consider this movie a renter and not a buyer.

Good for some mindless, shoot-em-up entertainment, but I wouldn't find it necessary to own. I have no interest in seeing it again.

I thought the movie was great. Definitely worth watching.

Come on now, have you thought about why the FBI was following the entire group but somehow missed the whole part of the main character dating the witness all the way until a tapped phone conversation? And how dumb was that main character for calling and dating a witness even though he knew federal agents were all around (the antenna answer)? And it was so convenient for the police to jump in to the final robbery scene just so the robbers could blend in (such a bad job copying The Professional), but then one of the robbers was actually stupid enough to distinguish himself by carrying a huge black bag while walking right in the middle of a bunch of cops. And those were just a few gigantic holes listed as examples. Totally disappointed flix!

Honestly I thought about editing my post afterwards to say that it's good and entertaining. As far as it being realistic it definitely wasn't that. I mean there were a couple more yeah right moments in the movie, but I still thought it was good enough to watch. I also thought Ben Affleck, and the guy from the Hurt Locker did a good job.

Finally since I go to the movies a lot I usually compare a recent movie to what's else has came out within the year. So I would recommend it if you are looking through the new releases, but it's not as good as a movie when compared to something like The Departed(chose this since I just recently bought it on blu-ray).

Agreed. I had a free rental on Vudu, which I used to watch it in HDX and really enjoyed the movie.

There were undoubtedly plot holes but the acting, character depth, and action was great. I will be picking up the Blu-ray for sure.

Just got done watching it, yes it has holes, but overall I thought Ben did an excellent job with the movie, and book adaptation. (Most glaring hole is him dating the bank manager)

AND I LOVED the homage Ben played to Heat (the movie) during the first scene in his apartment. Total shocker, but it was not lost on me that he was giving Michael Mann some love.

I watched this last night on BD. I made the mistake of picking the Extended cut to watch. Oy!
I FF'd thru most of the movie, because, I have zero interest in any sidebar love stories. While the action sequences were good, the whole plot seemed WAAAAY too much like 'Heat'.
And Ben's accent, was, way over the top! The other 2 guys in his crew, who were actually from Charlestown, didn't sound as retahded as Ben:rolleyes:

I don't know if the 'Special Features' on the dvd had as much info., but, there was quite a bit of background on both the movie, and that area of Bahstan, known as Charlestown. Apparently, all the robberies in the movie were based on the actual robberies, commited by assorted crews from Charlestown, and recreated pretty damn closely.

I actually REALLY liked this movie, plot holes and all (of which I agree there were many). Good action sequences, good stuff in between. Action movies that are just non-stop action bore me to death (yes I realize this is ironic, but it's true).

I agree, and what's most annoying is that Ben is also from Boston. I don't know why he can't just use a normal accent, he always has to overdo it.

The person I was most impressed with was Blake Lively (the sister / ex-gf with the baby). I've known a lot of girls from, like, Revere and Chelsea who sound IDENTICAL to her, attitude and all. I was CONVINCED that that girl was straight outta Boston, and would have laid good money on it.... but nope. Born and raised in California.

Seriously, if you were ever wondering what trashy chicks from the Boston area sounded like.... THAT is what they sound like.

    From IMDb :
Director/star Ben Affleck was most concerned that the actors not have phony sounding Boston accents. When Blake Lively read for the part of Krista, she sounded so authentic that he asked her what part of Boston she grew up in. She was born and raised in California.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Nothing at all... Dramas like this, yeah, I want them to make a certain amount of sense, so I watch a flick like this when I'm in the mood for it.

Other times, I just want to be taken away with a fanciful tale that doesn't necessarily need to make any sense at all, like Inception.

VERY good movie. It depends on what you go into the movie thinking though. It's all about expectations.
