SRS 3.1TL XO points

Hey all,
What are the cutoff freqs on each high and low speaker inputs on the 3.1TL's?
Tried to locate the answer to my question myself but this is the best I came up with on my own? Taken from a srs overview...

...For even greater dynamic range and lower distortion, the SRS loudspeakers may be connected for Bi-Amplification using the two sets of inputs provided on each loudspeaker. No electronic crossover is necessary. By permitting different amplifiers to reproduce the high and low frequencies separately, the SRS loudspeakers achieve their greatest sonic potential...

What if I want to send certain frequencies to the seperate amplifiers? What are the cutoffs for/between the two?
Modern day preamps have the active XO's built in and I would like to utilize them. I dont want too much overlap?

Thanks in advance,
Matt :D

What pre amp has an active crossover built in?

Hey jesse,
Thought you were mad at me and I was not your student anymore :( LOL..;)

Anyway to my knowledge I found this reciever (50.2) and the preamp (40.2)
version

http://www.integrahometheater.com/model.cfm?m=DTR-50.2&class=Receiver&p=i

If you either look at the specs or DL the manual. It shows that in 7.1 you can take two of those channels and biamp with the fronts. Now you will have 5.1. The two front(s) outputs can now be set manually to whatever hz you want.( I assumed that was an active xo ) Well what I need now is, to know how to get the info as to what the cutoffs are on the speakers inputs! How do I blend the two? There is no sense sending each amp full range if the pre has that capability?

If I am wrong I am wrong... but that is what I read it to be :o
And even more so if a subwoofer falls into equation....

Thanks Jesse,

Ok, to properly bi-amp you need two separate amps and external crossovers. That said, what they are allowing you to do with the AVR is basically ghetto bi-amping as there are only two power supplies shared by all those channels. As for the crossover settings, those are low cutoffs (Adjustable Crossover by Channel Pair 40/45/50/55/60/70/80/90
100/110/120/130/150/200 ), so you cannot assign channels to play only high frequencies and other channels to play only low frequencies. However, you can let the speakers separate the frequencies by removing the jumpers. Then, you can ghetto bi-amp.

All I am saying is I have read DarqueKnight's review on biamping:

http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10191

I know DarqueKnight has done many reviews on this site (which demands utmost respect) and had/has a system that would make anyone's mouth drool.
I am just wondering if perhaps what IF he would have split the freqs to the amps. Then what would the results have been on his overall findings in his review? IMHO

I have now two identical amplifiers (per F1nut's advice since I started on the forum) I have been running what F1nut says as "ghetto" biamping for years :D
But In my mind now I just cant help but think:
That if one would assign freq. to each amplifier BEFORE the speakers, that would help with the dampening factor on each amp. Ie... the amps would NOT be running full range, Thus NOT depending on the passive XO in the speaker to split freq. (creating a "bottleneck" making the amps not working so hard ?
Im just repeating what the Integra salesman stated and I read the online manual and thought this would be way too cool!

Regards,
Matt :D

Isnt this what I said the salesman explained this to be????
You can assign freqs to each output?
Need some help here guys! Isnt that what this says?

Thanks in advance

Ill try,

■Equalizer
Manual:
You can adjust the equalizer for each speaker manually.
If you selected “Manual”, continue with this
procedure.
Audyssey:
This is selected automatically by Audyssey MultEQ
Room Correction and Speaker Setup function. The
Audyssey indicator will light (➔ 9) and
“Dynamic EQ” (➔ 56) and “Dynamic Volume”
(➔ 56) become available.
Off:
Tone off, response flat.
THX Audio Setup
With the “SurrBack Speaker Spacing” setting, you can
specify the distance between your surround back speakers.
If you’re using a THX-certified subwoofer, set the “THX
Ultra2/Select2 Subwoofer” setting to “Yes”. You can
then apply THX’s Boundary Gain Compensation (BGC)
to compensate the perceived exaggeration of low frequencies
for listeners sitting very close to a room boundary
(i.e., wall).
You can also set the THX Loudness Plus. When the
“Loudness Plus” is set to “On”, it is possible to enjoy
even subtle nuances of audio expression at low volume.
This result is only available when the THX listening mode
is selected.
■SurrBack Speaker Spacing
< 1ft (< 0.3m):
Select this if your surround back speakers are
between 0 and 1 foot (0–30 cm) apart.
 1ft - 4ft (0.3m - 1.2m):
Select this if your surround back speakers are
between 1 and 4 feet (0.3–1.2 m) apart.
> 4ft (> 1.2m):
Select this if your surround back speakers are more
than 4 feet (1.2 m) apart.
Note
• Cannot be set if “Surr Back Ch” is set to “1ch” (➔ 52),
“Speakers Type(Front)” is set to “Bi-Amp” (➔ 51), “Surr
Back” is set to “None” (➔ 51), or Powered Zone 2 is being used
(➔ 80).
■THX Ultra2/Select2 Subwoofer
No:
Select this if you do not have a THX-certified subwoofer.
Yes:
Select this if you have a THX-certified subwoofer.
Note
• If the “Subwoofer” setting is set to “No”, this setting cannot be
selected (➔ 51).
■BGC
Off:
Select this to turn off BGC.
On:
Select this to turn on BGC.
Note
• This setting is only available if “THX Ultra2/Select2 Subwoofer”
is set to “Yes”.
■Loudness Plus
Off:
Select this to turn off Loudness Plus.
On:
Select this to turn on Loudness Plus.
This setting is set automatically by Audyssey MultEQ®
Room Correction and Speaker Setup function (➔ 28).
1 Press to select “Channel”, and then use /
 to select a speaker.
2 Use / to select a frequency, and then use
the / to adjust the level at that frequency.
The volume at each frequency can be adjusted
from –6dB to 0dB to +6dB in 1 dB steps.
Note
• You can select: “25Hz”, “40Hz”, “63Hz”,
“100Hz”, “160Hz”, “250Hz”, “400Hz”, “630Hz”,
“1000Hz”, “1600Hz”, “2500Hz”, “4000Hz”,
“6300Hz”, “10000Hz”, or “16000Hz”. And for the
subwoofer, “25Hz”, “40Hz”, “63Hz”, “100Hz”, or
“160Hz”.
• While the Direct listening mode is selected, the
equalizer settings have no effect.
Tip
• Low frequencies (e.g., 63Hz) affect bass sounds;
high frequencies (e.g., 16000Hz) affect treble
sounds

hope that helps,
Matt :D

Those are equalizer settings, not crossover settings. The only way to do what you want is to use external active crossovers in place of the speaker's internal crossovers.

Just to clarify, those settings are for boosting or cutting those specified frequencies. They are not for and cannot send only certain frequencies to the different amps.
