Why would you want Spam flavoring on something? I'm honestly asking this. Do people actually LIKE spam? I thought it was just something for poor people, and morons.

One my favs of Monty Python! I love spam but just spam and eggs or spam sammich with cheese but to screw up the buttery goodness of Macadamia's is a crime.

NOW if the made a scrapple flavored macadamia nut, you got something there!

I remember trying Spam probally 35-40 years ago it wasnt good then and I doubt its improved since :p

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

it hasn't.. and it's like 95% sodium anyways.

The primary ingredient in Spam is chopped pork shoulder meat mixed with ham. About 90% of Spam is pork from a pig's shoulders. The remaining 10% (or so) comes from the pig's buttock and thigh, better known as ham. The second ingredient is salt, added for flavor and for use as a preservative. Also, a small amount of water is used to bind all ingredients together. Sugar is also included for flavor. Finally, sodium nitrate is added to prevent botulism and acts as a preservative as well. It is the sodium nitrite that gives Spam its bright pink color—without it, Spam would discolor and become brown. :p

Sounds like most of the crap we have in food anyway...look at the sodium in Lean Cuisine...anyway spam probably tastes better than a Japanese dog or a chicken thats been hanging in out door market with fly crap...yum

I'll tell ya why, because it is some good tasting stuff!!! Just like souse, tongue, head cheese, pickled herring, etc. Some of the most disgusting things in most peoples eyes are some really good flavored ****. Tripe, scrapple, squid (calamari) all were once considered peasant food and now they are considered delicacies.

I remember as a kid my mom would send me to the butcher with a nickel and he would pull four or five cow stomachs and put them in brown paper butcher's wrap. STUNK to high heaven but once cooked yummy!!! Now you pay almost $4 a pound for tripe and $5 a pound for calamari. Damned rich people! Once they get their hooks in something good it drives the price up beyond expensive!

Don't knock it Jason or Bob until you've tried it!:p

    YUM!

Now for the ingredients in scrapple; corn meal, black pepper, other spices, pig snout, pig dick, pig ears, pig bunghole, pig stomachs, any pig parts from the floor of the slaughter house, thus the name scrapple. There are many more ingredients and they sound disgusting but scrapple is soooooooooooooo good. It's one of my all time favorite breakfast foods.

Hahaha, "a pig's a filthy animal!" To bad some won't go out on the limb and try the "digusting stuff" as they don't know what they are missing and for the most part they're missing something gooooood!

It's fatty (two slices have more than 30% of your saturated fat for the day), salty, processed meat. Don't go overboard on how "good" it is, Joe. C'mon.

Oh I ate it as a kid, b/c it was that or nothing sometimes. Now that I can afford otherwise, no thank you.

So I've tried it, don't like it, and won't be going back.

Same goes for chitlins, turnip greens, collard greens, okra and a plethora of other "southern fare" that I just can't dig into.

And we have a place in town that serves fried oreos which I love, so I'm not the healthiest eater in the world...

Why is the best tasting stuff soooo bad for us.

I like the processed meat stuff but have come to realize if I want to live a longer life, it's better to really limit my consumption of them now.:(
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
