Last week, we got to know that our President listens to music on his iPod. Meanwhile, his counterpart in Russia is firing up the Technics reel-to-reel and Naim CD player....

Remember he was having his assistants hunt down collectible vinyl records in Washington DC earlier this year?

Not bad for some pro audio drivers and a sideways tweeter. :D

Any word on what records they picked up for him?

As noted on the SH forum, Medvedev is a hardcore Deep Purple fan (and once argued with Bono that Deep Purple is better than Led Zeppelin, with Bono taking the opposite view).

Despite the uber-expensive Naim CDP (the only remnant from his old all-Naim system), Medvedev is deeply committed to vinyl.

Basically, he apparently thinks that vinyl is what sets the men apart from the boys, so to speak (the picture above of him changing the CD notwithstanding).

This pic was also posted at SHTV: Medvedev and his old all-Naim system. (You know you're hardcore when you've "moved on" from Naim).

Wow very nice rig. The HT in the White House is nice, just a tad too much red. Hopefully it was redone in good tastes though.

Cool. They have steel retaining rings around the drivers and steel brackets around the tweeters just like my SDA's. ;):)

"Daniel Hertz loudspeakers have proprietary stainless steel frames around each driver. These frames are not merely cosmetic. They make substantial contributions to the unique lifelike Daniel Hertz sound. The edges of the frame for the high frequency horn are shaped to optimize waveform termination and imaging quality. This piece is extremely complex and difficult to make and polish. The stainless steel rings on the Daniel Hertz 1 2” and 18” woofers are likewise important as they reinforce the rigidity of the drivers."

He probably just stepped into a dealer's showroom and said he wanted the "best" of everything. Of course, to some people, "best" = "most expensive". ;)
