I don't know if this is the BDP or the HTR. OPPO and Denon 5800

All of a sudden, the only digital format I can get from the HTR is Dolby Pro Logic. When the HTR is set to Auto, it is supposed to detect the digital signal and if it is DD 5.1, then play DD 5.1, or whatever Dolby signal is sent to the HTR.

When I try to play a DTS audio track, I get no sound. When I use external in, I get all 5 channels and I get the high end audio formats with the external input.

That must be clear as mud. Any ideas. The display shows it is getting a digital signal but won't play it as DD 5.1, just Pro Logic (that was shorter)

I am going to swap out the DVD player and see if that is the source of the problem.

I switched out the OPPO for my Pansonic and there is no problem playing the DD 5.1 audio track.

I just got the BDP back from a repair after the movie Harry Brown seemed to have screwd it up. Something they did must have affected the digital output....or else there is a secret switch. I thought maybe having the multichannel inputs in the HTR might be the cause, but when I unplugged them, I still only got Dolby Pro Logic (maybe II)...I can't remember.

I know there are a lot of BDP-83's out there....ideas?

I use TOSLINK. Once again OPPO comes through. I emailed them and had an answer back in about two hours. When they had the unit back, they reset the digital outout to PCM instead of Bitstream. I reset and now good.

New side issue: However, and I think I did this **** around, when the HT display goes to Dolby Digital, it then says DialNorm and then Offset +4. I have no idea what this is.

DialNorm is more than likely Dialog Normalization, intended to bring the dialog volume up from its original level. (Set to 0 and the dialog will be back to the original level.)
