Well hopefully he has his head on straight, and staying away from the garbage....
  • I haven't had any contact with him since I purchased his modded 1.2tls a few years ago. It was a very strange transaction but it ended well. I do hope he's doing well and has conquered his demons.

Pretty much what Jesse said. He got back into some bad stuff and started declining from there. Since I block his posts (because they are very political) I sort of forgot we were FB friends. I don't do the politics or religion thing on FB and don't really tolerate it when it's bombarding my feed from the same individual.

Haven't kept up with him at all, but then he rarely posts non-political stuff and 99.9% of his comments are political. He's free to express himself, but I am free to also not have to deal with it.

Joe was a cool cat, until his addictions got the best of him. Hope all is well with him and he straightened out. Yeah, didn't end well here for him, but 2nd chances are possible in one's life should they seek it out.

I have a pair of Monster Powerline 2 Plus's (15 feet each) that I bought in 1989 or 1990 to go with my Vandersteen 2 Ci's. Still using them today...on my LSi 15's. Glad to finally read another's opinion of their performance. I was thinking of replacing them with Belden 5000 10 gage, but I doubt it would be an improvement. I welcome any comments or suggestions for an up grade :)

I doubt the Belden would be an improvement too. The guy who you replied to is no longer here, but he did move on to MIT shotgun cables if I'm not mistaken. A considerable cost increase, but well worth it.

If your pockets aren't that deep, MIT has a clearance center with great deals. Also I like Reality cables which used you can find a 6-8 ft set for under 100 bucks and they compare favorably to some higher end stuff. Analysis Plus 12's would work too, I'm using Acoustic zen Satori's right now and am happy. Others like Audioquest cables, and a bunch of other brands from the likes of Morrow, Harmonic Technology, Kimber, etc.

You have to try a few things to see what has synergy with your system and ears.

Joe has had many, many 2nd chances, but it's an insidious disease that too many never recover from. I wish him nothing but the best in his battle.

I have to say when Joe was clean he was a great person and friend. Very intelligent, funny as hell, knows what good audio is about, helluva good cook and host, etc., but I had to cut ties as I want nothing to do with that scene.

That pretty much sums it up, at least from where I'm sitting.

I really wish I could've met Joe before the demons took him over. As Jesse mentioned to me he seemed to be a very intelligent man and I bet he could've been lots of fun to hang out with. Sadly I met him at a very low point in his life and I sincerely hope he's turned it around since then. I do continue to enjoy his 1.2tl's though and Joe gave me many valuable tips on setting them up correctly. Without his patience and advice on set up I'd no doubt still be listening to a very diminished sda effect. Thanks for the help Joe if you're reading this
