To use a line from BTLS: another example of the "pussification of america!"

If the cleavage is really that much of an issue. Better not let the kids watch tv at all until they are at LEAST 13.

I was expecting something wrong with her actions and found nothing wrong. A little and just A LITTLE too low on the top for sure but her actions were realy innocent to me.Really cute and pure I thought.
I like that tinkerbell outfit. That's just like hers' but shorter, I agree. I guess that will have to be changed now to be kid sensitive.

50 years of acceptance of some things can change because of one persons' view point. Prayer in school. Now, no more.
Sesame St. now, what's next. I don't watch kids shows so I don't know. I think they've done alright keeping em clean and simple.Who was making this video to begine with from the studio.A newbie who doesn't know the rules?, maybe.
If this is bad for the kids then, kids shouldn't be allowed into:
The clothing stores.. posters of women all over their section, the pics on all undie packages....Oh and that grocerie store check out line...tisk tisk
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

the kids that watch Sesame Street are going to see a lady wearing a pixie dress. This hoo-ha is totally in an adult world that is uniquely American in its shame for the human body. After all, the Pilgrim's were 'Puritans' and not much has changed.

Definately not appropriate. It's not about keeping the human body from kids, but more so respect. Even in the adult world, proper dress is required at work, places to eat, shows, schools, etc. That outfit was not proper.

The thing that bothered me the most was how she was trying to entice poor ol' Elmo with her seductive, "Hey, wanna play dress up ?". Yeah ... that's how it all starts ..... inter-species dating. ;)

Just as you wouldn't show up to a wedding reception wearing a baseball uniform and cleats, she could have chosen something more fitting to the occasion and surroundings for her Sesame Street appearance.
Know your crowd and know where you're at.

Heck .... the Munchkins in "The Wizard of Oz" were, by all accounts, a pretty wild and degenerate bunch between takes but when the cameras were rolling, they kept it all above board. I don't recall seeing any Munchkin giblets hanging out in the movie.

.....not that I was looking ..... very hard.

Toto was kind of a ****,though.

    A bit extreme there bubba.

So tell me then, is there a line to cross when it comes to proper dress or do you advocate that none should exist ? If so, where do you draw such a line and by who's standards ? Hollywoods ? Lady Gagga's ?

No, apparently I am not. I find her to be a very attractive woman with nice "features" and a good singer. Do I think my 2 daughters would even notice the cleavage? Hell no; they see worse walking down the street everyday. They would be watching Elmo and dancing in their apparently risque and provacative Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty princess dresses that are as low cut and revealing as the one in the clip. Does that make me a bad parent? Please.......

Of course there's a line. A harmless sundress is nowhere near my line, or any reasonable person's. There's nothing sexual about her outfit unless you want to make it so. And again, the song is about playing dress up.

I promise you you're going to harm your kids a lot more by going crazy over harmless stuff like this than letting them see a low-cut dress and let it pass without comment.

And, BTW, considering the size of her tata's on a regular basis, the "cleavage" she's showing in that video is nothing like what it could be.

hmm I can understand both sides of the argument.

On one side you have adults who know what clevage is, know that it is something that is sexual in nature and that know that it can cause problems when people are older, teens, ect in the work place, home, school ect. and do not want thier children exposed to it at an early age because they think they might get the wrong impression and want to do that as well.

On the other hand, children do see a lot of stuff day in and day out that would be the same if not worse than the outfit through things like, taking a walk on the beach, seeing a magazine cover, seeing people on the sidewalk, a hot summer day, ect.

The problem comes from what I think is when parents try to censor everything out. Children are not going to really pick up on stuff unless a big deal is made out of it and cause the child to wonder why this or that was taken away or why they were not allowed to watch it in the first place.

You don't think now with this being in the news children are going to not see it on TV and wonder why they can't watch it? Also having an adult tell you or talk about this with other adults children do hear what is being discussed and then will be even more interested in it later on.

I can say from example, I grew up with very very strict rules of what was something I could or couldn't see. Everytime even at a young age I was told I couldn't see something and either it was turned off, or taken away I never understood why besides it was something my adult parents understood better than myself I guess. Well to me that has a negative affect because I then wondered more and more what was so bad and wanted to find out ect.

Do I think her outfit is a big deal? No, its only a big deal if you make it one. Children see their parents all the time doing other "things" to each other, yet don't go out and try to do "things" with their classmates. But when it comes to wearing something low cut, OMG children are automaticly going to run out and buy the next thing they see from Paris Hilton. It really comes down to what the parents explain to a child, not what they see on TV and what they are told is right, wrong, good, ect

If you tell your child that swearing on TV is bad and can't see it yet use bad words around them all the time, who do you think they are going to learn it from? If they can't watch a show but mommy can be in a tank top that would expose more who do you think they are going to want to follow?

Lead by example, don't just turn off everything yet do it yourselves.

and at worse, if the child is young enough they will just think of food, not sexual nature.

I watched the clip and saw nothing wrong with it. Most kids see worse boobage in their own homes, be it from their mothers or sisters. They pulled the video, which is their choice, but if they ran with it who cares.

A great way to prevent such dastardly plots such as a bit of cleavage on a children's show would be to have ALL performers wear burqua's from now on.;)

This. The song is about her dressing up in a costume or something, that's all most children would take away from it. Things like this are only sexualized because the adults perceive them as such, not to the kids.

I think I see it this way too. I didn't see anything over the top in the vid. I try to monitor my 4 yr olds viewing closely. What pi$$es me off more is when he is watching something I find appropriate, and a commercial is aired for programming that I find inappropriate, and being a promo packs all the T&A, and shoot-em up they can pack into a 30 sec. slot.
