The Energy stuff is held in high regard. I have not heard the Ref Connoisseur line but i have heard the C 5 and they are great sounding speakers. The RC is supposed to be a big step up from them.

+1, you'll be happy with those if you get a good price. I auditioned the bookshelves (RC-10s) and was pretty impressed by them for the price! Very surprised at just how smooth and musical the aluminum dome tweeter is and how FAST the drivers are in responding to music dynamics. Not many metal dome tweeters sound this controlled...this is one metal dome that does not sound very metallic.

I'd say they can compete with anything in their price range. However, if you like OVERLY detailed HIGHS like a few members do here. These may not be for you. To put it simply..the highs are somewhere between the LSI ring radiator and the Rti tweeter. They image well and also have a good sound stage.

Your towers will exhibit all of these features and deeper bass. The bass drivers are very fast and tight and you have two and a larger cabinet! But you really need to hear them for yourself.....?
