I tried many different way to get 7.1 the ultimate goal is getting the HDMI to get digital 7.1 sound.
Any way here is the problem that I am facing.
whenever I tried to use my PC hook with the power amp with HDMI cable then the HDMI to TV. I can never get any image don't know why. Since I don't get any image so I can't test if I have sound or not.
Current setting is using my sound card with optical (which is 5.1 only) and then force that at my power amp to get 7.1 which doesn't work well at all. I also tried to use the analog way but the problem of that is too many cable so I don't really like that set up.
So my goal is trying to get the HDMI method to work. If anyone has that kind of set up and work could you please share? What model of video card, AMP and how you can get that work?
Thanks,

Do you mean receiver?
How about telling us what gear you have?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -

I am running
ATI 4350 video card on Yamaha RX-Z7 receiver and Sansung LCD TV. -
well I finally get the video part work. The trick is needs to turn the receiver on prior then the PC. However, the color, ratio... etc nothing is correct... and no sound is the biggest problem. Just wonder does anyone hook their receiver up with their PC with the HDMI? Any way wanna share your experience? Thanks,

What sound card? Custom PC, prebuilt, etc..."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I think the easiest way to fix your issue is to buy a soundcard capable of 7.1. I would recommend an Asus Xonar D2X sound card or a Soundblaster capable of 7.1"They're always talking about my drinking, but never mention my thirst" Oscar Wilde

My brother uses one, it's a nice little unit."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -

I do, but I use the optical out which gives me DD and DTS. I use the HDMI for video only.
For colorspace settings, explore the settings in the video driver software. The Catalyst suite offers a RGB and Video colorspace settings I'm quite sure.-Kevin

that sounds like my setting too. I use HDMI from the video card 4350 to plug into the TV and use the sound blaster titanium with the optical wire to the receiver. which just get 5.1. Which I really don't think there any sound card can be digitally get me 7.1 cause optical wire doesn't support that. That's the reason I want to use the GC to output the video and audio form the HDMI to the receiver and then to the TV so I will get the full 7.1, but I can't get that to work so far.... -
You need a sound card with HDMI out or motherboard with onboard sound and HDMI out. Unless you're running Win7x64, check out Asus's Xonar series with HDMI out."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

cool thanks, yes I am running Win 7 64bit but not aware there are any sound card out put with HDMI. Will check the asus Xonar out today.
Thanks, -
Xonar cards have driver issues with Win7x64. I had to disable my card for the time being..."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
