Week 1 in the NFL

Well, the NFL season has started! The season opener wasn't quite as exceiting as the NFC Championship last year, but we learned a little about each team tonight.

Honestly, I'm not impressed much by either team. Really, even though they lost the game I'd say I'm more impressed with the Vikings, but maybe that's because my expectations were so low - I was really expecting the Saints to beat up on the Vikings pretty bad, and the Vikes kept it close.

I'm gomnna go out on a limb and say I don't think we'll see either of these teams in the super bowl, but if I had to pick one I'd actually pick the Vikings. How crazy is THAT???!!!

My Colts open up their season in Houston this weekend, here's to hoping they don't fall into the 'super bowl loser' slump that most teams tend to fall into the year after they lose the super bowl.

I wonder how long Dallas is going to play their first teams against Washington on Sunday night :D j/k, I'm sure the Redskins aren't THAT bad...oh and yes I still hate the Cowboys this year, so no change there.

I don't see the Vikings doing better than a wildcard slot and done in the first round, if they get that lucky. As a Vikings fan, I wish I could be more optimistic, but seeing all the penalties taken in an effort to keep Favre in an upright position is a big part of why they lost the game. If you have to devote so much attention to protecting the quarterback, you waste opportunities down the field. Sidney Rice being gone makes for a one dimentional offense that will go 3 and 5 for the first 8 games and will be lucky to turn it around in the second half.

Last years's brilliant move will become this season's boneheaded failure.

And I should pay attention more because I just opened a story that says he signed a 1 year contract with the Texans.

Manning should have worn a condom for protection. He had none all day.

Colts O-Line was pathetic today. They are not going anywhere this year unless there is major improvements.

I have a disdain for and a disinterest in the Lions because they've sucked so badly for so long now, but I hate to see any team get screwed like they did today. I mean, if that wasn't a catch then no one has ever made a catch.

I'm not sold on Caldwell either. His "masterminding" leaves a lot to be desired.
I'm afraid we've seen the best from the Colts and it's downhill from here.

They're saying it's the most talented team the Colts have ever had on both sides of the ball.
The defense sucked! No other way to say it. Special teams YUK

I wasn't born in Texas but spent most my years in school in San Antonio...Cowboy's country (Staubach/Landry and Company) was also an Oilers fan (Earl Cambell/Bum and Company). Tried to hop on the Texans band wagon till Texans fouled up the big money deals (V Young/ Leinart...Carr which they let go the folowing season) to at least trade 3 1/2 (maybe 4 1/2 time flys) years ago with #1 first round draft pics. But Leinart was cheap now. With Shaubs stats from last year we will see.

Very nice game by Vick. I'm truly shocked that Andy Reid has managed to hold on to his job as long as he has, some very questionable coaching today, and this is not the first time I've seen him make some bad time management and play calls.

On the Colts game, I was looking at the QB stats, and didn't realize how good of a game Manning had...

    WOOHOO! Go Eagles!

You know what's even better? I can't WAIT to listen to all the people on the radio who trashed Vick saying he was washed up and nothing but a thug have to eat crow and admit he's the guy who should be running that team. That almost comeback was all his doing. Completely.

Now, for the Dallas vs. Washington game! I hope it's a good one!

So true, he has made some terrible decisions off the field but he's very talented. I'd let him start until he proves other wise.

Seems kind of shady to me, but I personally have never understood why they dont take the 2 seconds to hold on to the ball when you make a touch down. Our coaches always drilled that into us in high school...

I think the one is the video is almost every bit as questionable, scroll to 35 seconds:

    BOOOOO! Stupid Cowboys! You suck!

They should just replace the O-line with a deck of cards. It'd be a hell of alot cheaper and just as effective! Maybe they wouldn't lose to the Redskins though! Buncha jerks! I thought getting rid of Flozell Adams would have done at least SOMETHING to fix the penalty problems!

Anytime the Raiders lose, it's a good day. Didn't expect the Broncos to win, Jacksonville needed that game as a franchise to help keep the team in town. But the good news is that Orton is throwing the ball downfield with confidence and Eddie Royal is involved in the passing game.

Cowboys sucked it big time last night. There is so much talent on that team, such a shame to see it go to waste with all the boneheaded mental mistakes. It's not like its just this one time either, it seems like several times a year the Cowboy fans are left scratching their heads thinking 'WTF' - there's a history of these boneheaded decisions year after year.

I'm sure Romo thinks it's 'cute' or whatever, but it's just dumb. Get with the program Romo, time to grow up and be a big boy quarterback. All that talent, such a waste...
