The in-home demo idea, sanctioned by Polk Audio, has been discussed in-house for over a year and on the forum multiple times. You may need to catch up Larry.

    Hi Mark,

Perhaps you are right, but I've read this thread and the New LSi and LSIM Article Link threads. Are there any other better threads that you would recommend that I read to obtain Polk Audio management's official views on the subject?

Regardless, it should be clear that I was not representing Polk Audio's position on the demonstration concept, but rather merely expressing my own opinion of why it has merit. I was also remarking that there is a minimal level of Polk Audio support and participation that I think would help ensure success for the program.

Larry - I meant behind the scenes, offline, as in not for you folks....conversations as to a process, procedure and whether it would be worth it in the first place. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for the clarification.

Your initial response gave the impression that perhaps if I had caught up with the public forum discussions, I wouldn't have provided the opinions that I did.

Are you at liberty to say whether Polk Audio management is still considering this demo concept viable?

Now that there is a lot more public information regarding the imminent release of the LSiM series, it might be helpful if Al rejoined us in this thread and provided some additional feedback.

The demo would be great and even better if it comes to the DFW Texas area.

I'm not sure where you have found that it isn't a current topic with management. It's not an easy subject to get a formal decision on, let alone the fact there is zero LSiM product to pass around in the first place.

I know that we've identified who the demo folks are going to be and aside from another couple people regionally, it's already setup as far as the who....just need to work out the how. When it comes to your area, I'm sure you'll be the first to have a chance to get your listen on.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks very much for the response.

My apologies, I apparently misinterpreted the intent of your remarks.
Here's where I got the impression that this demo concept might not be considered completely a "GO" project in the minds of Polk Audio management.

That's not a bad idea and Soundscape is one of the oldest dealers Polk has historically. I'll shoot that idea up.

Mark I know Joe and Justin at Soundscape pretty well. I can talk to them about this if you would like. Let me know.

I too am also willing to do a demo. I have a LSI theater setup and could also swap them out on my 2 channel rig without too much trouble.

Not sure how I missed this thread before.

    Dorokusai,
    Mark

I have an idea that could help get your home demo's into action.

The best place to demo a sound system is a large upmarket empty house, that is up for sale.Lots of up market houses for sale these days. You approach a real estate agent that deals in up market properties and rent the house short term.

You have your POLK guys turn up in a POLK van RV and set up diffrent system in diffrent rooms, you go and hire some basic furniture and fill the spaces with plush couches like in an art gallery. You could even take your own furniture , posters whatever in the back of a trailer to each demo site. You organize a opening wine and cheese night and demo all your systems. You run the demos over a week. You contact all the local sound stores and invite them to the opening night you run a Polk demo advertising campain through the sound stores.

You have open days for the public and opening days for the sound stores employees..you educate the sales people you blown the minds of the public you increase sales. The team lives in the RV and moves on to the next town.Orders can be taken at the demo or through the sound stores.

You could do this around the country every year and you will build a huge presents.

    What do you think.

Really we're just waiting on the product to be built and delivered. I was just looking for folks that wanted to be candidates for in-home demo's and subsequent hosts.

It's way too much to get into this here about what's been talked about and green lighted or red lighted and most of that I'm not even allowed to talk about let alone even know since I'm a low level office rat, so not sure what to say about it all. I just handle what I'm tasked with and keep all the secrets to myself.

On a side note, I told them about your RT12 project and showed pics etc. Contact me offline as I'm hoping to get your project in the next issue of Polk's online magazine.

Peter - Remember that my original comments were based on my opinion and the history of what I know about that speaker, which is quite a bit not only here on Club Polk but as a seller of old Polk loudspeakers.

Just because that's the case, doesn't mean and never did take away from the fact you prize them personally and have done an amazing job in the restoration. I seriously respect that, so my hats off to you. You should re-read what I wrote again for that perspective dude. - Mark

    Hey Mark,
My comment that I didnt think they were anything special has never been a dig at you..so lets get that straight...I personally didnt think they would turn out as nice as they have. The design of the RT 12 has alot of problems. And I could give you a long list if you like...I have had other comments from other people (not you) that I would be wasting my time building these speakers...So dont take offense..I dont hold grudges and dont care what anyone thinks.I dont have time to **** about crap...So every time I say these speakers are not that good...it has no refrence to you..OK..Dont get touchy over rubbish lifes too short..We are all friends.
