It turns out two of my dowel pins that hold the grill on my FXI5 cracked in half flush with the speaker cabinet. I received two replacement dowel pins from Polk (A+ for customer service) , but I was wondering if anyone has successfully drilled or milled out the old dowel pins. Or do you think I would be better off trying to fix the old pins by using super glue or epoxy?

thanks

Had the same issue with my LsFx's. Soiset posted the following, worked great.

If you still have the pegs, you can fix that grill very effectively. You need a 1/32" drill bit, a paper clip, and some CA glue, preferably gel type. Drill holes in center of peg and where the peg used to be on the grill. Cut a 3/8" length of the paper clip, and insert with glue into the peg, then apply glue to the peg and surface, and mount. It's there for good.

I finally got around to making the repair. I found out that the original pins were just made of plastic. I am pretty sure this is why they broke so easily. I was able to get the old material out by using the right size drill bit at a low speed. I then simply pressed the new pin in the existing hole. Enough plastic material was left to make a nice snug fit. I am sure this would be much more difficult if the pins were metal.
