"Original" style Monitor 10 stands

I recently built stands for my Monitor 10's that can now be seen in this excellent thread started by dorokusai:

http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24335

I had just enough plywood in the shed to build two pairs and I've seen a lot of folk comment on how they wish they could find some original stands so....

Up for Karma is the other set of stands which are unfinished. Just bare birch. You can paint, stain, or cover in duct tape to fit your room's style. Or perhaps if the winner sweet talks me I can do a bit more to them prior to shipping.

To enter this drawing you should:

1) Own Polk Monitor 10's (or 7's I guess :rolleyes::p)

2) Reply with an "In" and suggest a good record for me to check out.

On the 21st of September I will write all your names down on little pieces of paper, crumple them up, throw them all on the floor and and see which one my daughter puts in her mouth first.
Sounds good to me...

    In. HMMM..Let's see...
Not a lotta folks like it....But...
Kiss...Hotter Than Hell. Very raw and and IF you can get past the stage antics visual... it's lyrically a great album.

I would love to be "In" on this please Rev. I actually have 2 pairs of Monitor 10's (I'm guessing that won't improve my chances though;):D) Maybe my album suggestion will though.:p

Give Love's "Forever Changes" a try, if you haven't heard it. It's #3 in my top 10 of all time.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Well, Rev great karma, not in as I don't have 7's or 10's. I do plan on getting a pair for my little guy but that won't be for some time.

But I'll still turn you to a great LP! "Switched on Bach"! Incredible!!! If you love Bach.

"In", if you please. My original series Monitor Series Model 10s could use perches :-)

    P1020559.jpg

the stand in the photo is an aftermarket Quad ESL-57 stand :-)

A record, eh? Of the polyvinylchloride/analog groove variety? Charlie Byrd's eponymous 45 rpm direct to disk on Crystal Clear Records (ca. 1979). A stunning recording, featuring the best-recorded drum solo (not the best drum solo, though) I have heard (even from the perspective of the 36-ish years that have passed since I first heard the record). (EDIT: crap, Charlie Byrd's been mentioned already!?! OK, then Waiting or Columbus MoFi Half-Speed Mastered by Stan Riker... the best live R&R album extant, if'n you ask me!)

If them little polycarbonate/aluminum digital discs count... Darkness Sure Becomes this City by Joy Kills Sorrow http://www.joykillssorrow.com/Joy_Kills_Sorrow/News/News.html

Oh he wants great recordings . . . Okay Rev see if you can get your hands on Sheffied Labs direct to disc LP of Richard Wagner's (pronounce Ricard Vaagner :D) Ride of the Valkyrie. It will truly blow you away. Harry Pearson of TAS stated back in the '80s when it came out that it was the all time greatest LP in every way!

Ride of the Valkyries, Tristan-Prelude, Act 1, Siegfried's Funeral Music, Forest Murmurs[Los Angeles Philharmonic / Erich Leinsdorf]

    [IMG][/img]Vagner.jpg

The part when Siegfried is breaking through the clouds into Valhalla will raise 2 inch goosebumps and bring you to tears.

    mhardy/hearingimpaired,

You're both forcing me to clean up old vinyl from the closet

Spirit's playing now and the Little Feet are about to get a scrubbin!!!

    Hearingimpaired,

If you like Spirit you should check out Relatively Clean Rivers. Same sort of thing but even better IMO.
