I'm looking to replace one of the woofers in a set of RT25i's that I got for free from a co-worker. They sound great, however on one of the speakers the woofer "rings" on certain notes.

Does anyone know the thiele small parameters to the woofers?

just call polk, tell them you're club member, and they should be able to sell you the correct part.

    Welcome to the Forum Pwrjam,
Quad is right, easiest to get one from Polk.
You can also find a replacement one by putting up a "WTB" add in the marketplace section. Pull the bad speaker and get the model # off of it. I 'believe' it is a MW5530 for the RT25i's (blue cones) or MW5522, if you have the RT25's (grey cones), but there may be slight differences in model#'s specific to your speaker.

IF your driver m/n is MW5530 "mavin" on eBay has them. They sell them as a pair for around $50, I think.

as far as your specific question, the TS parameters are not published, since the speakers are OEM for Polk. to get those you would need to test them yourself.

Just a thought: Before you buy a new driver, you should try swapping the drivers from Left to right speakers, just to be sure it is the driver and not the Crossover or your receiver.

Good luck, the RT25's are a nice little bookie speaker :D

That was part of the reason I was asking. so ya found me out :o:D
I was told by polk customer service that the replacement woofer (1) was over $70. I'm sorry but that kinda scared me away when I can get a replacement woofer from parts express for around $20ish dollars per/woof. I'd be willing to pay a little more for a woofer that's plug and play directly from polk though.

    Thanks for the post!
After pulling the driver out I found the model to be MW5532. Looks like the 5530 is a 4ohm woofer model.

I kinda figured the TS parameters weren't published. Couldn't hurt asking though :D

I swapped the entire speakers left to right and right to left sound followed the speaker. I took the woofer out and listened to the woofer free air. The sound was defiantly coming from the woofer. I didn't swap the woofers though. Didn't really notice the noise until I started to play some piano solos (some of my favorite music) at a decent volume about how loud a live piano would be playing. something about piano music really brings out the little defect. I'm not sure if it's partially blown or not.

I'll try swapping woofs first before I post a thread in classifieds to make 100% sure.
man if I can find a pair of woofers for $50 I'd jump all over that!

Just got done swapping woofers, ringing sound follows the woofer.

I'm going to give polk a call and see what kind of discount they can give me off that $70...

If you told them you are a CP member, that is the discount price.

    Proprietary information.

I'm sure someone could get some fairly accurate information from simple interpolation or shareware programs off the net.

CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
