Hi all, I just picked up a pair of Polk Audio RTA 11t speakers at a garage sale for $60. Just wondering If I got a deal? I looked around online and can't seem to find anything about them. Does anyone have the specs on them, freq responce, impedence, and have any idea how much the resale is?

I have owned Polk RTA11t's since 1988. I paid $900.00 for the pair and have used them in my HT system until last week. They are excellent speakers. You will not get a ton of bass out of them, but what you do get is tight. They image well, but not quite as good as the RTA15's. I have the manual, but I believe the freq. response is wrong. Here are the specs from the manual: Overall freq response- 22 Hz-26 KHz. -3dB--29 Hz - 20KHz. (I believe the -3 dB is about 37 Hz) Reccomended amp 30-250 watts. Nominal impedance 6 ohms. Efficiency 90dB. I would guess the resale to be between $150.00 to $250.00 depending on condition and if you can find anyone locally to buy. Let me know if you have any futher questions. Enjoy!

man where are these garage sales? around my area people sell awia system speakers for $40, or speakers that have been chewed on by dogs.

I have got a pretty good flea market out here every weekend.
I just wish I knew more about what I was looking at, I kick myself thinking about when I passed up "That huge old Sansui receiver" and various other pieces of equipment I let go out of sheer naivety. Oh well, I guess we all start somewhere.

Did pick up a Marantz 2225 I got for an awesome price though, about 2 weeks ago.

    Here they are

Here are they are--my old speakers JBL N26's are on top of them. Looks like I got a deal, the only thing is that I notice that they crackle a little bit now and then; I guess I might have to rebuild the crossover eventually (hopefully it is a cheap thing to do). Yeap I guess I did good that day :D I put on some Santana and I was blown away with the sound from these babies. The only thing is that my receiver is just a cheap 70w/ch JVC receiver that came as part of a 'theater pack'. The only thing that pisses me off is the fact that I had just finished building a set of stands for my old JBLs (you can see one in the picture) I made them from solid oak and gave them 2 coats of stain and 3 of poly, they look wonderful--and they are too short for surrounds.

I am quite pleased with my deal (we will wait and see how bad the crackling is). I see a lot of crap speakers at garage sales too, thought you do get lucky now and then. I had to pass up a pair of rebuilt infinity Kappa 8s for $400 (there is no way that my receiver could handle the load)

Now the problem is where am I going to put them when I move back to college in the fall:rolleyes:

Yeap, I was in the middle of testing the speakers and comparing them to the JBL when I took the pictures--pardon my mess.

    First the "fun" comment...
Those things look like a couple CS's on growth hormones... (OK, it was funnier when I was looking at the pic's... )

Now the serious question re: The Crackling....
Guys, Is that likely to be crossover or a VC?

    mike,
Is it a general noise from all, or can you pinpoint it coming from one or two individual drivers?
When does it happen? Loud passages? Heavy bass? etc...

The noise is too quick and not often enought for me to decern if it is just coming from one driver or anything like that.

Nice speakers. The crossovers on mine were rebuilt with the help of some fellow Polkies (SCompRacer and F1nut). I noticed a bigger improvement when I replaced the stock sl2000 tweeters with the new silk dome tweeters (part # RDO194-1) from Polk. If you want to do the upgrade be sure to mention that you're a CP member for a discount.

    I also have the 15TL's.
