I am looking at the Sony RM-AV3000 touchscreen remote and wanted to get some feedback on the forum? Any other units less than $100 that you may suggest?

Input appreciated-

Thanks- Greg

I'm not a fan of Sony's Remotes. They never work everything and there a pain to setup.

Now for the money you want to spend I would get a One for All.They 99.99.Nice remote, you have to use the shift key alot but It's RF and works 99% of gear on the market.I have one and it's basically brand new.I have only used it for about a week.I could sell it to you if your into it.I'll sell it to you for 60.00 bucks plus shipping. It's called the Home Producer 8.It's in perfect condition. This could be your ticket and les then you want to spend......tak to me...Dmantis20@aol.com

If you want to step up a bit,I suggest the MX700.This remote is 10X's better then the Sony and the One For All.It's around 179 or so,Retail price escapes me.But this remote is very good .It comes with alot High end receivers like the B&K avr507,the Ultimate Receiver by Sunfire, etc.

To tell you the truth, for a budget remote I feel there is no better the Philips pronto. The best you could do for yourself is to try and find a used or left over TSU1000 or the newer TSU2000.Fully custom. Will work anything IR,fully Programmable.

    Your mission should start here..

    gacole,
I have the Sony RM-3000, and the MX-700. I found both to suit my needs. Macro, learning, etc., but the Sony is a bit too big for the kids. So, it went back inside its box, and potentially end-up on the flea market one of these days.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have an MX-500 and love it. I'm not a fan of touch screen remotes because everytime you want to do something i.e. change volume level, change channel, hit 'play', etc you have to look at the screen to see what and where you're pushing. A hard buttom remote has a tactile feel. After using it for awhile you just know where the buttons are and can feel your way around without taking your eyes off the screen. Just a thought for you to consider before you plunk down your $$.

gonzo, the same TC-1000 that you are praising is the same unit (Microsoft IRIQ) that mantis and demiurge are putting down. I own one, and its not that great. It has a lot of built in codes for basic functions, but it seems like you really have to mess around with the learning feature before you can get to a point where you can throw away your old remotes, its too bulky, and there arent enough hard buttons, although I do enjoy the scroll wheel. Anyways, if you actually use your remote frequently (I dont) then I would recommend something else, but im not complaining, as mine came free with another component.
