    I don't like it.
I still watch those movies when they are on AND I also have the dvds if needed.

That's like having somebody else do Dirty Harry.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

It'll never touch the Original. NO ONE can play "The Duke"
    Where's Dennis Hopper?
How are they even going to come close? Special Effects? I don't see it as a viable replacment.
NO respect from the Coens. BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Why the hell does hollywood have to keep re-making movies? Is there not an original idea left out there? A remake of True Grit? F'n stupid. The older generations who know and love that movie won't go see it bastardized, and the younger generations probably wouldn't be interested in a western.

I assume that you're referring to his role in the original...but you do know he passed away recently, right? Very sad ending. :(

I know he recently passed but I don't see an actor of his caliber cast into the movie as shown. I clearly could have been more clear.

Leave it to Hollywood to bastardize a good movie and IMHO the best acting job John Wayne ever did except for maybe his role as "J B Books" in The Shootist. These two movies as far as John Wayne's acting go's has always been a toss up for me. I use to hate westerns growing up even into my adult years then i saw True Grit and found out what a good western could be and have enjoyed them ever since. So Hollywood keep your damned hands off such a classic flick, Restore it, Remaster it, Re-release it but remake it NOOOOO!:eek:

Ugh... Another bad remake of another good movie... I don't think I've been pleased with any of the ones that have been released recently.

Poor John Wayne must be rolling in his grave.

What a travesty. I'll keep watching my DVD of the original thanks anyway.

Was never a fan of John Wayne, just too cheesy of an actor. This remake, I'll give it a shot if the trailers look good.

There's no harm in a remake. I'll watch the new take out of curiousity, but I'll bet the original prevails.

My theory is that it makes it easier for a film producer and director to sell to the money guys. Instead of having to explain the plot, on an original idea, to people who are basically not into movies. You can just say, "Picture this, JR, it's True Grit meets Crazy Heart!". Jeff Bridges has just won an Academy Award and True Grit was the Duke's. You don't have to sit there and talk about what the story involves and loose the guy when he gets a cell phone call during espresso.
The other thing is it gets immediate attention. People either love the idea or hate it. Look on this forum, such reaction wouldn't happen if it were another movie with Bridges in it. It really makes sense if you stop and think about it.

These are good points Kenneth, and it makes sense to a degree. I guess I just wish they would use better judgment in what to remake. For example, King Kong. The original wasn't great by any means, and with today's technology, why not. I didn't care for either version, but I know lots of people who liked the remake. 40 years from now are they going to remake The Matrix? How about The Lord of the Rings? Instead of some hollywood jackass saying "hey, that was popular, let's redo it!", a producer of the variety other than jackass could say "hey, I remember this movie I saw as a kid that had such great potential, but really sucked. Let's redo it and make it kick ****!!" Now THAT would be cool!

I think I will have to pass on this one. I really hate seeing remakes. I always prefer the original. It seems like Hollywood has ran out of creative ideas. I am sure this remake will make plenty of money though.
