People have no respect anymore

I am not just talking about cars, I am talking about stuff you worked hard to get. For example.

I have a collection of over 300 music cd's and 350 movies. I know my sister "age 20" gets bored and she likes to just walk in and take them, after watching she will leave them out to get scratched up.

When I ask her if she has them she simply says no but when I go looking for them they are either in her room or in her car roasting face down in the blazing sun.

So with me leaving to TN for 10 days I decided to lock my door so she could not get in. I thought she will just notice the door is locked and move on.

Right? Wrong! I arrive home abut 45 minutes ago and after talking to my father and greeting the dog I wonder upstairs to my room for a shower.

I turn the hallway light on so I can get the key to unlock my room. I approach my door to find one of the screws half way out and the face where the key goes in all scratched up. I walk in the bathroom there are 3 screw drivers there 2 philips and a flat head. I ask my father if he knew what went on and he said he did not touch it and didn't even know it was locked.

So I call my sister out and call my mother up. My sister denies it saying she has been so busy wit work and that she would not touch my stupid door. Like I believe that.

Just ticks me off because now I am not sure what to do, should I leave my door unlocked like it has been? I know moving out is not going to happen so dont suggest it lol.

End of vent Discuss.

Sounds like Mom and Dad need to sit down with sis and bro and have a little family talk about respect.

    Either that, or move out.

I'm not sure I would turn an experience with a sister into "People have no respect anymore ". I suspect your sister's attitude has been around as long as people have been around.

Padlocks are a joke in that situation.
Replace the bedroom door handle, with a locking type, like you'd find on a front door.
    Or install a deadbolt.
Lastly, beat the crap out of your sister, then tell your parents, her boyfriend did it:p

or tell her to grow a set of balls and fess up, then when she does kick her in the crotch.

What I would do is start going into her room and take stuff, don't put it in your room, just put it in and out of the way spot in her room like under the bed, behind the nightstand/dresser something like that. Have a web cam? Point it at your door when you leave, and have your computer set to record at a low resolution. Good luck in what ever you decide to do.

If she has her own bathroom, or the two of you share one, get some pepper spray. Spray a little on the tp, and let the magic of capsicum do the rest. If you share a bathroom make sure to bring your own tp!! ;)

Hide a a web cam in your room and once confrontation time is there, she can not deny the evidence. You could also hide a horn in the bedroom which would go if not disalbled (remote) prior to entering your bedroom. There are all kinds of little electronic gadgets which can be used in such cases to discourage without disturbing the family peace.

If the door is of good quality, hole saw...chisel...deadbolt...end of problem.

If its a cheap hollow core door , measure and go invest in a quality door with a deadbolt...end of problem.

Of course your Mom and Dad need a key , I wouldnt have a room in my house that I didnt have access to.

I have the same problem. Younger brother, uses my crap, leaves it where he last used it in various conditions, always worse then when he took it.
He used my stereo once, I was really upset then, he mess all the wires up trying to move it scratched the subwoofer.
He had a drink on the top of my monitor 50s just sweating away leaving the tops to get water damaged....
Yep. Talking from mom and dad, good **** whooping, nothing works. They just have to grow out of it.
That what I figure, or well, move out like most suggested.

agreed. Move out. I moved out when I was 18 and never came back including summers from college because I went and found work and lived down there. I've lived in some nasty **** housing that wouldn't pass a health inspection but did I learn how to be on my own and not deal with parents and other crap. Yep.

either deal with it because its your family, or move out you don't have a choice.

    super bugs and itching?? jk

The OP stated they dont' have a job, but find some roommate and get an apartment and find just a basic job. Hell when I was in college my first year I could still work 30-40 hours a week working at a grocery store selling liquor, and go to school full time and still do well in classes and could live off of that.

It just takes some work to do it, if your not willing to work, then don't complain about it, its your choice. Learn to either work and make the change for yourself, or don't and stay there, the ball is in your court.

Ummm OP.....you just a few months ago wanted to buy a new car....but if you're unemployed, how the hell would you even get a loan for this? I'm confused at the logic..

I've seen pics of his installs. With his knowledge, he could probably work at a car audio shop and have enough $$ for an apartment like the one above.
