Help me pick a sub...

Okay, so I have been slowing putting my system together and it is almost complete, with one key component missing... The boom. Here is what I have so far...

Pioneer Elite Vsx-23 AVR
Emotiva XPA-5 amp
Polk LSi25's
Polk LSI-c
Polk LSi-Fx's for the surrounds.
AudioQuest cables

This system will be specifically for Home Theater use.

What would you recommend for a sub? I can get dealer pricing on Polk, and Velodyne subs, so if I can choose one of those that would be ideal.

Thanks everyone.

You did not say how much you want to spend but the Velodyne would be my choice as well. Eddie

I have Epik Sentinel for sale if you are interested. It is like new condition. Email me if you are interested. I bought it new in Dec'09 but decided with something smaller. So this has been put back in the box for a while.

Thanks guys, I was hoping for around $1000 if possible. The problem with used is that I live in Canada and the shipping rate would be killer. A DD12 from my supplier is $1500 brand new. What do you guys think of the Optimum 12?

Velodyne makes a stellar product! My HGS-10 has enough slam to fill an airplane hanger. Well, I might be over-stating...a little. But, I truly can't believe how much bass comes out of this thing. Too bad I barely listen to it anymore (it's too much for most of my low level 2 channel)

After auditioning a few subs yesterday and talking with some experts in regards to the layout of my room and best bang for my buck at this point. I am going to go with 2 Velo MiniV-10's placed in opposing corners of the room. I can always sell and upgrade to the big dogs later if I want. Thanks for all of your help!

How is your setup now?. I have exactly same speakers and Amplifier. but went with Micropro 4000 and i am happy with it. Wondering how 2 subs would sound instead of one.

The MiniVee 10's should sound incredible, esp if you can swing 2 of them. I picked up my Velo DPS-12 during the final days of Circuit City for $230 on clearance. (used to sell them for $699.99) If I had the extra cash back then I would have bought two. Running the DPS-12 in tandem with an Infinity PS210. Still checking flea bay for a good used DPS-12....

+1 or get two of them if you can get the great pricing on them.

otherwise if not Polk I would go SVS, epik, or DIY.

Been piecing this system together for the past couple months, now have all of my speakers, AVR, and amp running with a cheap 12inch sub right now. Will be picking up my subs here in the next month or so. Right now it sounds incredible, can't even imagine it with quality low's. Can't wait! Will post an update, can grab a MiniV10 for like $400 I think.
