I could hear a difference when I switched from the 12 gauge monoprice to my Rocket 33s. It was almost instant. The sound stage was a lot clearer, and it just seemed more defined...and realistic...
The monoprice just seemed dull and boring afterwards

    Nah, to Mole'.

He's changed everything willy-nilly without giving anything burn in time, and nothing matches, he's got all kinds of different "sonic signatures" going on in there.

On the flip side, he's going from entry-level cheap monoprice cables to entry-level AQ cables. Considering he's got MIT stuff through the rest, i wouldn't expect to hear a HUGE difference, either.

Oh, I was going to say...all my stuff matches. I run all audioquest.
My sub cable is entry level. My Optical is mid grade, along with my speaker cables.
I mean, he should be able to hear a difference, I know I did. But then again,I also bought my Rocket 33s used so I did not have to worry about burn in. I just had to clean the tarnish off the connectors. ha.

That is another thing. Keep those connectors clean.
Invest in some Deoxit before you need to use it.

Have you taken the time to individually place each speaker where it sounds the best to you when you are in the sitting position, and then see how it sounds with say, the fronts where they are, and then the rears, and then all together.
Placement can have a huge effect on weather it sounds good or not to you.
You can **** all the high tech stuff you want but in the end remember it is what sounds best to you....

so it would be best to have all the same brand? i can still get that deal on the AQ CV-8 cables.

how do they compare to the MIT AVt-3.EXp-1 ?

i am running a low level Monitor speakers aswell. so maybe thats it too.

i have more $$$ in all my cables than i do into my speakers for now

    and just to make sure

i said i heard no difference going from MonoPrice ICs to the AQ ICs (sidewinders and king cobras)
i just hooked up the MIT AVt-3 (did not hook up the EXp-1 cause i did not have enough bananas) and they have about 20 hours on them so far. but so far they sound good over the Monoprice 12 AGW wires

I don't know if I believe in that DB system or not.... I could have gotten mine with them, i still can for about $80 AQ will do it for me.
Anyway. It really is up to you. It is best to try to stick with the same cables just because they are generally made with the same types of materials, and each manufacture does things differently.
Again, are you going to notice the difference between spending say $500 on MIT cables or getting a deal on the CV-8s for say...$250 probably not.
If you can get the CV-8s for cheap they will do just as well as if you got the MITs.
MIT will be there, it is not a company that is doing bad. Your system will grow, and so will your tastes and speakers. For now the CV-8s will do you just fine.
I would not worry about cables this early in the game. Your system is still growing.
When you get some higher end speakers like the RTi line, or some PSB speakers then it could matter between a lower level AQ and a higher level AQ.
But for now, just take the deal and listen to your music.

Nah, i wouldn't say necessarily that it's "best" to have all the same brand, but it sure is easier, i'll tell you that much. :p But give it some time, and if you still don't notice a difference, then accept the fact that in your case, the AQ cables weren't a noticeable improvement over the monoprices, and stick the monoprices back in, get the money back out of the AQs. If you like what you hear and you're happy with it, then keep them in. Don't upgrade just for the sake of upgrading/spending more money. If you like what you hear, then sit in that spot and LISTEN and be happy. ;)

I can't comment on the speaker cables, i haven't had either unfortunately. CV-8s are on my short list whenever i get around to paying attention to my rig again in the future though. Probably not for another 3-4 months.

That may be part of it. There's always a weak point. If that's the case, then i wouldn't ditch the AQs just yet, and maybe re-visit the experiment later on with different speakers if that's what you want to do.

Nah, x is amusing me now. It's hilarious looking on as he makes himself out to be foolish. Every time he posts it's like he babbling from his bungus. It's funny! And he doesn't even have sense enough to realize it. Great entertainment

Almost as amusing as those who create an account just to post links.
