So, You Think CP Isn't a Family!

Well let me dispel this myth that CP members aren't one big family.

A week or two ago I put up some threads thanking three members in particular for helping me and my family out. That's just the tip of the iceburg.

Last night about 7:00 PM amulford (Antny) shows up at my door out of the clear blue. He told me he heard it through the grapevine that we were stuggling to put food on the table and on some days no breakfast or lunch for my 13 year old let alone food for me and Phyllisann which we would give up our food for little Joey.

He then procedes to unload his truck with bags and bags of groceries. He filled my refridgerator (which had moths flying out of it) with fresh vegetables, juices, and condiments and more. He filled my freezer (again moths flying out of it) not just with meats but the best meats. Pork shoulder roast, beef round roast, FILET MIGNON, chicken, sausages, frozen vegitables, ground beef, Italian rolls, hamburer and hot dog rolls, loaves of bread etc.

He fills my pantries (again with the moths) with canned goods, five boxes of pasta, sauces, soups, olive oil, garlic etc. Provides Moose with 40 lbs of dog food. Cookies, a huge bag of assorted snacks etc. etc. etc.

My wife and I were in tears. When we kept thanking him and asking what we could do in return, he simply said, 1) you'd do the same for me. 2) you guys have helped me out of emotional jams in the past and more and WE ARE FAMILY!!!

What goes around comes around.

So to you new guys and you guys on the fringe of the forum, know this, when we call each other Brother or Sister, or talk about CP as being a big family it is literally true! We don't just help each other out with audio and related things, there is alot of behind the scenes stuff going on. That's why we are such a tight knit group and some new members for some reason object to this. I was new once and was welcomed with open arms despite some of my antics and strong opinions but I learned quickly what this club is all about and GOT IT!!!

Just like with all families there are disputes and sometimes out and out fights but we're a family and it always comes round full circle.

A big shout out an atta guy and our gratitude goes out to Antny and all others who've help us out in this terrible time of need.

I once had a member say to me, "don't you think you post too much personal stuff, where's your pride?" My response was, "my pride and ego would cause me and my family to starve." "Since we are a family, it won't be held against me anything of a personal nature I post up." So I have no fear of posting such things and if someone does use anything personal I've posted up then that person needs to take a good long look in the mirror because what's happened to me and my family, health wise, mental health wise, financially etc could very easily happen to them and I can gurantee that even if someone put me down for this openness and something happened to them I would, as well as the other members of this family, stepup and do whatever is necessary to help that person out.

AMEN!!!

PS: I've left a lot of people out of this because there are too many to mention and I know I'll forget someone but, just a snippet; Toolforlifefan, F1nut, Snow, Keiko, GG, Ben, Jm1 SCompracer, Carl Schwartz, Hawkeye, Big Brother Ted, Sal, etc etc. Please if I didn't mention you don't be upset. My mind racing with all kinds of stuff.

Joe, I agree with what you're saying. Great family here, and what Anthony did will open him the doors to wherever is he wants to go in the next life, assuming he wants to go anywhere.

I also am sorry to hear things are still rough for you. I really hope things get better.

But I said this once and will say it again. You have a long list of gear there. That does not fit with the "we were stuggling to put food on the table and on some days no breakfast or lunch for my 13 year old" part.

    Just saying.

I know Russ and Ric, I've been selling off all kinds of stuff, but it's getting pretty close to big rig I fear. Just thinking about it gives me panic attacks. However, I'm am this close to hitting it and won't hesistate for a second when the time comes, which again is right around the corner.

You can't blame me though for selling off other things first, like my Franklin Mint cars, Star Trek stuff, plates etc. We are also having a big yard sale in the next couple of weeks to raise money and what we have in storage and what I am getting from my cousin who is moving and has to downsize should get us some moola to get us through until we get caught up, I hope.

It's about the music man, I know first hand. I'm SO far from hi fi right now, it's funny.

If you need to, dump that gear man - get a little tube integrated, some Polk bookies, and a cheap table and enjoy the music. Things get better, I'm looking forward to the day I can get my hifi on again - but for now, it's been a humbling experience, almost a rebirth into my love of music to get back to basics.

    Cheers,

As others have said, many people here are first rate; to give to others who are in need is just awesome.

    With that said

To post that your family is going without food, and follow that up with this:

“I've been selling off all kinds of stuff, but it's getting pretty close to big rig I fear. Just thinking about it gives me panic attacks. However, I'm am this close to hitting it and won't hesistate for a second when the time comes, which again is right around the corner.”

Jesus Christ man you need a reality check on what is and what is not important in life.
    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

Let's keep the good spirit of the post and not be judgemental. Selling all your stuff is not always the best solution. Heck, what about having the little things you like to help keep you healthy mentally and have the strenght to go through the trials. The economy has been nasty and especially in the US, there has been way to many stories on here about people going down from the top, way down to the bottom. We all had our trials at one point and that should give the understanding and compassion instead of being judgemental.

I personnally just about sold my self when raising my 2 sons as a single parent. That didn't lead me anywhere but a bad health (however, can't regret much since my boys are fine and turned great but I do at times ask my self if I didn't go over board...). The big factor is in order to be able to take care of people around you, you must be able to care for your self (a battery can't give power for long if not re charged every once ina while!).

HI, I am convinced there are better days ahead for you and your family.

    God Bless!

With that said its a big deal giving up, which is what I would feel like if I got down to selling the big rig. I'd go without necessities first so long as no one is dying just to know I'm only in a dip of life, not a downward spiral. Its a mental thing. ;)

it's cool what Anthony and others did for Joe.. everyone needs a helping hand now and then.

it goes above and beyond what this forum is all about.. it's plain and simple just looking out for each other when and where there is a need... and someone stepping up to organize something.

Let's keep this positive guys... My rig is like Fort Knox to me. I bought all my gear for far less than it's worth, knowing that if I need to sell it that I will come out ahead. Already have sold off many things at this point and I still deal in gear on the side to make some extra cash. Goodwill/Craigslist and garage sales were a great asset when I was struggling through unemployment.

I know Joe has gone through hell recently, and parting with his gear would be to give up the one thing that gives him peace and beauty during his struggles. Were I in his shoes, I would part with my stuff when I no longer had the power to turn it on.
