Hi,
Can someone tell me what is the difference between RT1000I and RT1000P? Can I mix and match for the LR front speaker?
Thanks

Yes I comes before P
there you go. you're welcome!
ha ha ha. sorry couldn't resist. Welcome to the forums here. Have fun, read all you can stand, and ask questions.
THe P version is the older of the two. The "I" version has the Tri Laminate tweeters. whereby the "P" i think has the Silk Dome tweeters. I could be wrong. but it does have to do with the tweeters used.
You can mix and match. I do sometimes. I mix a RT800i and a RT1000i for fronts some times. both have the tri lam tweeters. Some people will scoff at me for doing it. but i like the powered sub from the 1000.
Mixing tweeters shouldn't... I say shouldn't be much of a problem for ya. It's better than mixing say a Polk speaker with a Klipsch or Cerwin Vega. That's a big no no. Or God forbid a Bose.
Someone please correct me if i'm way off.

Good try Dangerboy but yes, your way off.
There are several differences between the "I" series and the "P" series.
1)The P series is the older version.
2)The P series has Velvin dampening material on the front of the speaker. It's grey in color. The I does not.
3)They tweaked the Tri Laminate tweeter in the I series to smooth out responce, make it less harsh and also tweaked the Crossover.
4)The I series added a bottom grill,I don't know why there is no speaker there to protect.
5)The 6 1/2 drivers color changed on the I series. It's blue instead of black. No sound quality difference.
Personally I perfer the I series sound over the P series.I owned the Rt1000p's and modified them to the I series with new Tweeters and crossovers. The P series where harsh in compare.
You can mix and match P,I or the newer rti series as they made slight inprovements, but the overall tonal quality still matches close.
I perfer to use all the same series.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time.
