Today I went over the deep end, and ordered MIT Shotgun S3's for my entire system... Joe Abrams was very helpful and took real good care of me. Super nice guy..

Looking very forward to this upgrade as it is one of the most expensive ones I have done to date..

That is all,

Larry.

    Thanks!!

How long did it take for burn in?? 200hrs? Joe said if I could leave my system on for 72hrs at low volume that would help the most..

    What did you guys do?

It's going to be a long 2 weeks waiting for these..

I bought mine used from Audiogon, so they were already burned in. I'd say Joe knows his stuff, so whatever he advises is probably the best course of action.

I upgraded my 2 channel ICs to Shotgun S1.3 XLRs, and it was a great improvement. The soundstage opened up wider, and everything is clear with pin point accuracy. And, I am still using my Omega-Mikro Planar 1 speaker cables.

In so far as burn in, when I first installed the cables I was not impressed, especially considering how much 3 pair cost, but a few hours later as I was listening, the cables opened up. The soundstage literally expanded right in front of me. It was so cool. Any improvements after that are subtle, but I am so pleased with the sound at this time I might even skip the speaker cable upgrade.

Later, I went crazy and upgraded my digital cable between my Wadia and DAC to the top of the line MIT Magnum. This also was a positive improvement, but not quite as pronounced as was upgrading the ICs.

Finally, I upgraded my HT RCA ICs to CVT Terminator 1 and this to was a big improvement over my Mapleshade ICs. To be honest, the Mapleshades are to fragile, and I was getting a bit of a buzz in the center channel, and once in a while in the rears. After installing the MITs with the locking RCAs the system is dead quiet, and brings out the smallest detail in the movie sound track.

    I love my MITs.

Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes

Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
    Three 20 amp circuits.

I believe MITs advises 80 hours to become 80% burned in.
    Thanks!!

I was listening to one pair of mine as they reached a significant break in point. It was amazing because over 5 minutes I heard the music come together and become very focused. It was great! I think about 100 hrs or so this happened but that is a VERY rough estimate.

They will burn in fairly well at 50 hours but it takes sometime, couple weeks of playing to get the max out of them, they always sound like **** to me when I first put a new set in, ear bleeding, just out the ****, I guess that means they sound like a hemoroid, well, if a hemoroid made a sound.

    I dig them.

For a "tweak" - MIT cables made the biggest difference, hands down out of anything I have changed in my system - and it was a pretty immediate difference, even before "burn in"
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

You may upgrade internally but they will be the last brand of cables you buy. I've been into MIT since 2003....no chance of leaving. In regards to power cables, well, I'm more of a Signal Cable fan.

The MIT's I posted are cables I had in my stash along with my Audioquest cables. The MIT's in my rig now will go into my HT rig.

No, change lines, don't ever worry about the S1...go Magnum down the road.
