Not a derail at all. I've been seriously studying up about room treatments since Post 11 when cstmar01 reminded me. I've actually stacked 3 rolls of R-11 in each corner as budget bass traps (that will make it's way into the walls when I finally get around to remodeling my basement man cave )

RE: room treatments. In one of JM1's posts there's a link for Mike Lavigne's room treatment process that is worth the time to read.
    http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue16/lavigneroom.htm

Most folks aren't, as a rule, able to build a house/room around their system.
We've been running low-end gear in the "Delayed Gratification", non-critical 90%HT/10%Music mode for a while (a couple more years to go ), so room treatments would be like putting lipstick on a .... cat.
But....the information gathered here from links and very knowledgeable users is more than worth the price of admission.

Didn't mean to derail the thread, InspiredSports, just wanted to put out a "Thanks", and thanks to Polk !

Absolutely amazing article. . . Thanks! I had some extra time to really study the room linked above and had a few thoughts . . .

First, I tried hard, but just can't help being green with envy of that entire setup. My only solace is that I value my marriage and would NEVER see my wife with that setup. At least I surface from 12 hour stints in my basement office / mancave every hour or so for food, coffee or a bathroom break and give my wife a hug and a peck when she's home

The second thought is that in a sense, building a room like that where every aspect is dedicated to getting perfectly formed 2-channel sound to the ears at the listening chair is more like building a speaker than placing speakers in a room.

I don't know if that came out right. Most of us place cleverly designed speakers in a room. Some of us futz a bit with the layout and tuning of that room. This lucky bastage built a giant ergonomic speaker that you sit in.

Unfortunately, right now I can't afford to build a 5,000+ cubic foot speaker

(but at least I'm one of those guys beginning to futz around with simple tuning like rolls of OC pink in the corners)
