There is no difference, except that the cheaper one is sold out. I suspect only FutureShop would be able to answer *why* they have two different prices for the same speaker.

The only thing I saw was that the model # on one of them was PSW111 and the other was PSW111WP - No idea if that makes a difference or not, however if you look at the comparison view, the more expensive WP model indicates that it has a crossover where the other does not--Of course I never fully rely on those comparison specs as I've always foudn them to be less than accurate.

Futureshop is also NOT an authorized Polk distributor so if you purchase from them, kiss the warranty goodbye.

Below, you will find a list of Authorized Online Polk Distributors...

The search for Polk dealers in Canada shows that Future Shop is a valid CANADIAN distributor.

I went into FS this evening and had this checked out.. I have searched high and low and have come up empty regarding any validity regarding a special FS only model.
They certainly wouldn't price match the one I bought last month and there aren't any in stock across the province.

    Hi,

I don't know if this is a 'bail and switch' tactic of Futureshop. The cheaper price one out of stock province wide instantly when the sale is started.

I questioned the sale rep and he said the cheaper one is "promotion" model from Polk Audio - again, more confusion !!!

BTW, what happend to: "if the sale item is out of stock, the shop MUST either give you a rain-check and/or sale you a similar model at the sale price" . In this case, FS must sell the other PSW111 at $129

If you read the description right under 'Features & Specs' then it is also indicated that the one on sale is also PSW111WP.

The Polk Audio PSW111WP subwoofer picks up the slack where other woofers fall flat. It features an 8" Dynamic Balance Kippel Optimized woofer and a 300W power amplifier with a down-firing port for enhanced bass performance in a very compact design.

Either way, I don't trust their comparison spec either.

Ah, thank you for clarifying. I did not know this.

I went in to FS again and they told me that the cheaper one was a FS only special made just for them by polk and that they were clearing out all the old stock.

I was told "different squeue, different product". A friend of mine in Dartmouth looked at both side by side and saw no feature difference. Go figure.

No movement from FS on this. I bought one from FS less than 30 days ago with the same model No. on the receipt. won't do a price match as they keep telling me that they are two completely different models. My friend tells me that they made two models from with slightly configuration. Most notably, a three prong power cord vs a two prong cord and the LFE is combined with the left RCA input.

Futureshop is a major chain store in Canada.
They were there before Best Buy.
It is impossible that they would not be an authorized dealer since they carry Polk Audio.

Futureshop was purchased by Best Buy in 2001 I believe, so it makes sense that if Best Buy is an authorized dealer, the same would be true for Futureshop.

Future Shop, Costco, BB, etc. are all known for this shady practice - they get "shop exclusive" models, which are no different from the "normal" models (TVs, receivers, speakers, etc). This way you cannot price match one store to another when the item is on sale at one store. Especially valid for FS/BB, since they are under the same ownership.

Both has the same regular price of $384.99 without the discount. Therefore, they are both pretty identical to me. FS must doing something pretty shady about this ???

I don't know about the rest of you, but for me, when I see this kind of cr@p going on, from that day forward that firm has lost my business. Boycott a business that is shady! If everyone did this, maybe these shady deals would cease! There is no reason to put up with this kind of business. There are other businesses which actually try to be honest and up front with customers.
