Basically, yes. -

Seem awful odd that their "calendar" didn't predict the demise of their own civilization, so how are we to take an ancient calendar and apply it to the Apocalypse, the Revelation of John, Nostrodamus, end of the world as we know it, etc.!?! :rolleyes:BS NONSENSE!

Just to add;
More nonsense - http://www.2012-doomsday-predictions.com/2460/the-mayan-calendar/comment-page-1/#comment-12975April 7, 2010 at 11:54 am
Just so everyone’s aware..the Mayan’s did NOT even predict their OWN demise. They are but of a few left. Also, there are 3 types of calenders. One is the mayan, it is the LEAST accurate of the 3. I believe the other two are Gregorian and Julian. Neither of these predict anything in 2012 and have been more accurate -
I've got canned goods, a butt-load of ammo, AND MY TINFOIL HAT, so.....
BRING IT!!!I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -

This is the kind of stuff we can do without. -

I just watched a movie called "The Road", damn, that s#!t is depressing !
I'm thinking that I just might prefer the "big sleep".

I still need a generator, more water and fuel. The food, ammo and heaters are in place and my mad max car is available. Only down side is if I have no water my grass will turn brown again...
Lightman will be happy to keep it watered for you, but I don't think you will like the smell:eek::p

I'm afraid this Forum will turn into a political blog and cease discussing audio and music altogether on 12-21-12..:p

Regardless of whether you believe it's nonsense or not, all it takes is one or a few believers with faith in their date with destiny to ruin your day. Would be nice if they would drink their own Kool-aid and leave the rest of us alone so we can laugh at them the next morning on headline news but you don't get martyrdom without affecting others and there's no bigger neon sign in the near future like "2012" to draw these moths to the fire.
Don't discount the crazies and the zealots and their self-fulfilling prophecy. -

If I recall correctly, wasn't the date identified on the Mayan calender just the end of their equivalent of a millennium or something similar? Once again, if memory serves, those folks didn't have an Armageddon/Apocalypse, per se, until the conquistadors showed up and gave them smallpox.
As far as Nostradamus, well, Judas Priest has an entire album dedicated to him, so he must be right. -
I'm not preparing for this non-event, but we normally have 3+ months provisions on hand to survive. It's just something we did as part of being "self sufficient"...well, to a degree.Yep, my name really is Bob.

Al Stewart wrote a song and an LP about Nostradamus so there's even more evidence!;)

I honestly thought it just predicted a rare alignment of planets w/ the sun in 2012. Oh well, guess I better get to crafting a 2 year supply of tin foil hats.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Thats a good thing, I do it too. You never know when there will be an event of some kind. Just imagine if tomorrow you hear of a widespread attack on the food system or for some reason transportation to your area came to a hault. It could easily be a few months before things got straighened out.Vinyl, the final frontier...

I got a new calendar for 2012. It's got pictures of kittens.
It ends on Dec. 31st. Maybe a plague of cats will decent upon us.
We should all move the end date to the 31st and stock up on catnip."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
What makes you so sure you'll make it to this date?

Well, that certainly validates things for me. -
Would you'all please clarify who is prepared to survive for at least 2 yrs and forward your addresses to me via PM. I've got a couple of hundred gallons of diesel fuel in auxillary tanks on the truck, a bunch of rifles and about 50,000 rounds of ammunition. Should we have the apacolypse, Zombie kind or otherwise, I need to plan on whose place I'm showing up at and redistributing your survival stash.DKG999

I knew enough to know.... that I didn't really care to know him... any better... than I already did. Fraud and thievery are "qualities" I generally try to avoid. (like the plague) Also....his blind allegiance to the Grumpy Dwarf was a huge negative. -
I think this resurrection could have been solved by using the
