IHT 3000 Wireless Interference with other wireless

I purchased the IHT 3000 to use with my Samsung Plasma and Samsung wireless Blu-Ray player. After hooking up the surround bar and subwoofer and testing out how my system sounded with Netflix streaming movies, I noticed I could no longer get a wireless connection to my Fry's wireless router. After a lot of trial and error I turned off the IHT 3000 and my Samsung player started working again and I got my streaming movie from Netflix. the IHT 3000 and the Blu-Ray player are in the same media cabinet. What options do you suggest or do I need to return the sound system?

Bobz,
Try changing the channel in the wireless router. You may have to access the router's firmware in order to change it. There should be instructions in the router's owners manual on how to do this. Hope this helps.
Cheers!

I buy products from name brands like Polk because I trust their quality will be high. At the very least the products should function properly. The 2.4 ghz band is crowded. Polk knows this and couldn't care less. In fact, their customer support told me this when I asked for possible solutions to the wifi interference issue with the 3000 IHT. Sorry about your luck - their words not mine.
I will return my 3000 I purchased just yesterday. It sucks because the sound is fantastic. The product just fails to work properly. Streaming media wirelessly, whether people like it or not, is taking over. The FCC used to guard against this type of interference. It used to be against the law to sell a product like the one Polk and other manufacturers are peddling. There are other ways and bands to use for this type of wireless speaker technology. Polk and the FCC just don't give a damn. -
I have the Polk Instant Home Theater with wireless sub and it does not work with my Apple TV. Sometimes it will not let me connect to internet via my laptop. It defeats its own purpose. I wish I was able to demo it before buying it...

Thats a good idea Kim but I purchased the IHT from Polk direct on eBay a few months ago. I have the original box and everything. Can it be shipped back for a refund?

So, I purchased the IHT 3000 in March from Amazon. At the time I had a G wifi router. Upon receiving and installing the IHT 3000 my wifi network was crippled (as is frequently described here and elsewhere). I read in a review on Amazon that you simply need to change the channel on your router. I did so, and was off and running.
Fast froward to yesterday when I upgrade my wifi network to N. Same problem comes up only this time changing channels has no effect. My search for a solution leads me to read, "In a heavily congested RF environment like this, the best option would be to upgrade to the SuroundBar 6000. The transmitter and receiver modules used in this model automatically searches or "code hops" for a clear channel when you sync the speaker bar to the subwoofer." from an actual Polk employee. :frown:
So if I'm to understand this correctly, you knew this was an problem from the beginning and only put a solution in the upgraded unit and are now calling it a "Feature." -

Not even a denial or attempt at justification for this? Oh, and my network isn't "congested." If there is ONE thing connected to my wifi network when the IHT3000 is turned on it is immediately incapacitated. -

Can you even recommend another course of action to correct this? Besides trying to sell me a more expensive model. -
matma, I strongly suggest that you call Polk Customer Service as they don't always get the chance to check in here.Political Correctness'.........defined

Contact Kim offline Liberty.
Matma - I know it's not the suggestion you wanted to hear but the upgrade to the SB6K is simply the best option, period. It's not that much more expensive, or shouldn't be, so shop around.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Sure, I'll bet the SB6K is very reasonably priced. But that isn't really pertinent to the situation. If I went to Amazon right now and bought it for $450 ($50 off MSRP with free shipping and no tax) I'll would have spent $800 to have one decent soundbar and one REALLY long paperweight. Could you stomach that? Should anyone be expected to? -
Why can't you return it? Have you made any attempt to contact Kim?CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

It has been too long since I purchased the item.Have you made any attempt to contact Kim?
For what purpose? They have stated that this is not a flaw in the unit, but that they have simply decided to not include the technology in this model to prevent a serious functionality issue they obviously knew existed. -
It wasn't an obvious flaw since it was an issue that happened later due to a change in technology. I realize you're bitter and this sucks. If there was an easier fix, it would be available but the fact is that the module is part of the entire "brains" of the unit.
You stated on Amazon that you purchased the unit in March of 2011. Why would you not be covered under warranty?

Why not take the time to listen to what I'm suggesting to you? or did you buy it from an unauthorized dealer? I'd still encourage you to attempt a dialogue.

Amazon return policy states it must be returned within 30 days (long ago).
You say to use the warranty, but it's not a warranty issue. There is nothing technically wrong with the unit. Nothing is broken. It's what should have been included in the first place. You say that it wasn't an obvious flaw, then why would they put "transmitter and receiver modules" into the 6000 that would, "automatically searches or "code hops" for a clear channel." Seems like they knew enough to make sure this problem wouldn't occur in the 6000. -
Did you buy it directly from Amazon? or from a reseller on Amazon? You've made ZERO attempts to work with Polk Audio's CS so who's really to blame here?

Hi folks. Here is how I resolved my interference issue. I had my Netgear 150 N supplied by Comcast on channel 4 and every channel I selected on the 3000 would not work. I changed my Netgear Router to channel 8. That has worked for me. Tested two laptops and iPad and throughput is good. Ps: I have so many neighbors on channels 1,6, 11 that is why i use the in between numbers.
