I recently made a ht out of my garage. Its 12x22 ft, the sound is good but I have a lot of standing waves, & the surrounds could sound better. I have polk spks fxi500 for sides& rears. The room is paneled with carpet with heavey padding. Would home made bass trapps made with rolled carpet help? Also does anyone use diffusers on the rear wall? Help!! thanks
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

    Lots to talk about here.

Rolling rugs will help some but maybe cause problems.

diffusers are excellent for between the surround back and from the half way mark and back.

General rule .......dead the front half of the room and live in up the rear half.
    Balance is key here.

Bass is a tough hombre' to tame. Carpet... no. Padding... no.

There's a very good chance all you are doing is killing those fxi500's with all the padding.

How many sources of deep (< 120 Hz) bass are you running?
