So is this the same wood that the RTiA line uses? Just curious as to the quality of the wood veneer.

Sure would be nice if we could get an official word on these... hint.. hint..

Thats a good question. I don't know. I was just commenting that the previous Monitor line and the current TSi line both use vinyl, and it isn't until you get up into the RTi line that you see real wood veneer.

Even if the Monitor II line uses a lesser quality veneer it still seems like a heck of a bargain.

I think one of the big selling points of these new monitors is that they'll probably hold their value better than the old monitors in the even that you sell them. Deals on the old monitors, be them new, used or refurbished, are a dime a dozen. These series II speakers with the real wood are at the very least, unique.

What sucks for me is that I just purchased a pair of the old black 70's five days ago from Newegg, with the hope of picking up the OLD CS2 to match as soon as they came back in stock (which was previously scheduled for August 3rd on Newegg's own website). Now, I can't find a matching center to save my life -- and the prices of the refurbished models on eBay are skyrocketing with each new auction! DOH!!

So now what? Buy a mismatched "new color" CS2 for nearly twice the old price? ouch... :(

PS: Anyone have a Series I CS2 for sale? lol...

I was eyeballing the Black Monitor 60's on Newegg, but i'm saving for a wedding. Just had a buyer lined out for my 40s and I find that Newegg doesn't have the product listed anymore!

Crap. I waited too long. I emailed to ask if they'd ever be back but I'm not optimistic. I think I just really screwed up.

Aside: Anyone else selling (B) Monitor 60's in that $109 price range they dropped to on Newegg?

Let me know when you get a response, if you don't mind. Looking to get either a pair of 60s or 70s, and they all sold out. 60s sold out last night at some point I believe.

They responded and said that they don't carry them now. They said that might change in the future, but with the appearance of this Series 2 line, I'm expecting that they won't be back.

    Darn.

That 109.99 ea. plus shipping sounds good.

A local friend expressed interest in my set of 30's and 40's. I was going to sell them to him as a set for $125, and not have to mess with shipping. Newegg recently had the 30s and 40s (pairs) for a combined $218 total.

JKF: I'm still trying to decide if I'll even get an upgrade out of swapping rear Monitor 40s for 50s or 60s. I made another thread about it.

I guess it depends what is driving them.
In my receiver's case, having 40's for rears was overkill.
I actually dropped to an R150 for rears. That was a bit too low, 30's would have been a better move for me.
But, if the receiver can dish it out, then I would say yes to the 60's, I don't believe the 40 to 50 jump to be worthwhile, but the 40 to 60 jump is marked.

If I got your 30's and 40's, I would put to front and rear, the respective sizes, to go along with my CS2 and PSW10.
I already have another set of 40's in the dining room, and they only need a sub.
That will be another day, as I get a better sub for the LR, and move the PSW10 to the dining room.
My speakers are about a year old.
    And yours ?

Am I the only one that sees the new line of monitors for what they are?

The exact same product with a different color scheme.

Honestly I was planning to redo the finish on the "silver" face of my black Monitor 70's before this "New Product" news from Newegg came out. The feet and cones are easily removable and with a bit of patience and some accurate taping/painting I think my out of date Series I monitors will look just as good as these.

I don't fault them for coming out with the new line though. They are great selling speakers, and by creating a new line they can discontinue the old ones and set higher price point for better profit margins. It's just good marketing and a sound business decision.

You're forgetting the real wood veneer ;)

The TSi's are pretty much the monitors with a different color scheme too.

Well I fell for it. Got the new 70's for $400. I really do prefer the look and I'm hopeful that the real wood veneer is attractive in person. Also got the new 40's to get the price over $500 and secure the zero interest over 12 months. They get to me on Tuesday. I wonder how many of the four speakers will have to be returned due to damage in transit. Guess I'll put the over/under at 2.

I think Curt is probably right since there is no official statement from Polk but if you look at the pics...all those drivers look like TSI drivers..at least visually.

Don't put much 'credence' into the words fabric, cloth, or silk....get a thesaurus...Polk copy plays with WORDS...SILK is a CLOTH and a FABRIC!!

All of Polk's Monitors and TSIs and Monitor II series are treated fabric tweeters. ALL of them!

There is very little difference between any of the tweeters..yeah TSIs are a 'different' color...take them out and compare them to a Monitor tweeter and see if you can find ''any' real differences? Crossovers yeah...with the TSI Polk went with a STANDARD 2.5 kHz crossover for EVERY SPEAKER IN THE LINE. Not so with their predecessor...no doubt this provided a slightly more seamless performance for SURROUND applications? They also enlarged the cabinets..slightly (again for HT BASS, and put the ports of the towers on the bottom for, once more, a bit more bass extension for, you guessed it, HT).

It is also possible that these are Euro or Asian...I've seen some black faced Monitors around here myself? Who knows.....just ENJOY the fact that you'll still be able to buy a speaker as good as a TSI for less for a while longer?

I have a pair of T20e's (e for euro) that I bought at Tweeter a few years back, still sitting in the box. They are Monitor 30's with a black face, same color face as the series II shown at Newegg. Never saw them sold anywhere but Tweeter, so it's not the first time Polk has created a line only available at a specific re-seller.

New here, read for a few years.

The Pictures at Egg of Monitor 70's and the new II series of the cabinet finish look identical, Black & Cherry, but those are pics. Can't wait to see if any of you that have ordered the II's if they are in fact REAL WOOD FINISH. I hope it is but, I'll guess not, but that's just me.

    I have and had a ton of Monitor CS1's, CS2's, 70's, 60's, T90e's, 50's, 40's, 30's, & PSW505's.
    I think this Monitor line is great. With a Yamaha RX-Z11 I don't think I can get the Monitors hooked to it to sound any better, CS2, 4 - M70's, 2 - M40's, 4 - M 30's and an Eosone sub which I can switch with the 2 - PSW505's.

I am very pleased with the Polk Audio products and their Customer Service has been fantastic with me. I have turned at least ten others on to Polk's in the past year.

How many posts B 4 U can list anything 4 sale?

Thanks to everyone 4 all the info. over the past years

The code you're using is only good for the Monitor 60s ;) However if you use this one EMCYVZT55 It's good for $50 off, making them $200 each. Only good for the next 5 hours though, part of their 72 hour sale.
