It's been unpredictable and exciting! Who's following the tournament?

I'm watching it 70/30 around cleaning and baseball. I've followed the entire tournament and am rooting for the Dutch - I always root for the underdog. When they beat Brazil, I smiled for a week :)

I enjoyed Uruguay knocking Ghana out of the Cup (I've never seen so many floppers before) and the Dutch knocking out Brazil out was very cool. Spain knocking out Germany was unexpected (to me). While both my daughters are passionate about Spain in the final, I'm going to enjoy the game; may the best team win!

I voted no. Can't get through a soccer game as I find it very boring.

It's a bunch of mambie pambies, who by the way are in great shape, kicking a ball around a large field and occasionally using their heads for 1 1/2 hours straight, to get a tie of 0-0 at the end of the game!:D:p:p:p:p I forgot to mention with hated referees who have flash cards like when we were kids learning math using them to denote that one of the guys got a little too rough!

mambie pambies, you say? let's start with the fact these guys don't wear any pads beyond the shin guards, so any contact is skin and bone contact, cleats DO dig into the chest and shin guards DO bruise thighs and twist ankles. they play for 90 minutes in a fluid field of play that does not reward people who mentally check out or hot dog the ball. this is a TEAM sport that does not cater to 'stars'.

I only started watching this sport 5 years ago when my daughter started to play. I love the constant action. It's been years since I could watch an American football game because there is too much time spent waiting for something to happen (and OMG, the game stoppages for comercials:eek:). You don't have to wonder why the NFL can't get any interest any where else.

this is a record for yellow cards in a final, right? over officiating or just a rough game?

I didn't really have any stock in either team, but that game was obviously fixed. The play that set up the goal shouldn't have even happened.

Just goes to show, everything is for sale!

For me, baseball is the worst to watch on TV (live is a different story)

That argument works most of the time, but definitely not to soccer and the World Cup.

yeah, I know you're messing with me;) different strokes for different folks! I'm totally burned and bored by the NFL. I don't think the SuperBowl numbers will stand up to global World Cup numbers; they're talking 700 million viewers for the game this afternoon. as for the guy saying the game was fixed, how much money did you lose on the game?

I sure hope so. I actually have no idea what real football is. I have never competed on any level, attended a match, or even watched one on TV until today. Thank you for correcting me. I'm sure your infinite wisdom allows you to see things much more clearer than anyone else oh wise one.

Didn't bet on it as I didn't really care who won.

Well I can go along with you on Nascar & Tennis but Baseball, the tension between pitcher and hitter, especially in a pitcher's dual (which most people find excruciatingly boring) just keeps me on the edge of my seat. I love the strategy employed in each pitch by both the pitcher and batter.

I played golf for 35 years so it's not boring to me to watch.

That is the point I tried to make in another thread. Most people that I know who love soccer played organised soccer during their lifetime.:)

That argument works most of the time, but definitely not to soccer and the World Cup.

Well let's see, soccer is the biggest sport in most foreign countries but these countries have no NFL team or can even watch NFL games with the exception of the Super Bowl so you win that argument based on those facts.

You mean Australian football!:D Yeah, I know what you are saying.

I'll be honest with you, while I'm not bored by any means watching a football game the commercial breaks drive me crazy. As far as the huddles go well I played organised football in one form or another for 27 years and I know it is part of the game. BTW those 27 years equate to the 27 minutes it takes me to get this broken body out of bed in the morning!:D

Hahaha, they should change the name football (soccer) to no-hands, only feet and head ball.:p:p:p LOL!

Right Einstein, fixed all along. Which is why the Dutch leg-breakers pulled assaults that would get you thrown in jail on the street. And why their coach pretty much stomped on his 2nd place medal.

I despised the Dutch for ugly play before this game, but they outdid themselves in front of a billion watchers.

Joe. I'm looking at you. A billion + viewers.

A side with amazingly talented guys like van Persie, Robben, Sneijder, von Bronkhorst, and that young kid Elia. There's no excuse. And they could well have won, they had some very good chances.
The 3rd place game yesterday was outstanding, and everyone knew this would play out like it did.
