Overpowering LSi7s?

I just picked up a XPA-5 for the low low price of $500. I use it to power my Lsi25s and LSi7s for the surrounds. I know the LSi25s will handle the 300 watts per channel, will the LSi7s?

    I run my rear LSi7's from my Cinepro with no problems. I am sure you will be fine.

    yeah i got a pretty good kick out of that too...i let it go...but what i am trying to figure out...and im no audiophile...but if the lsi7s are rated to 200 watts max...and the XPA-5 delivers 300WPC RMS...how is it hard to believe that I might think that this amp could damage the 7s?

    Damage to speakers occurs when an amplifier loses control of the signal and sends distortion to the speakers, usually frying the tweeters in the process. This happens when an amp is not powerful enough to keep up with the demands of the source at a given volume level. So an amp rated at 25 watts reaching its limit is far more likely to damage a speaker than a 300 watt amp with room to spare.

    That said, just because an amp is rated at 300 watts doesn't mean that it ever really gets that high. Unless you're trying to fill an extremely large room with sound or you have really difficult to drive speakers (far beyond the 4ohm LSis) you will likely never reach an average 100 watts per channel during normal listening without risking serious injury to your hearing. You can get a lot of volume on even 15 watts per channel.
