Polk PSW 303 popping from tapping and humming from touching?!

Hi ya'll, I just bought an other-wise good-great condition Polk PSW-303. It sounds great, except it will POP when nothing is going to it, or when I tap the enclosure! Really disgruntling. Also, when I touch the 180 degree switch I get a medium volume hum, but when I touch the incoming cable and it at the same time the hum is "eliminated." (there's still amp noise, too ) ALSO, when there is NO incoming signal cable and I touch said switch, the hum is a good FIVE TIMES LOUDER AND DEEPER! As if I'm playing a 40Hz sine wave!
It's also NOT a "pushing it too hard" thing at ALL because of, well, not only what I just explained but also because if I play a sine wave all is well, until I play 30Hz, then all goes to hell, BUT if I turn it UP LOUDER, to MAX volume, the popping becomes less of an occurrence.
It's almost like a a mixture of a *SEVERE* ground loop and a loose cable/bad capacitor/loose transformer inside?
Any ideas people?!

ANYbody?!

Well, I'm not thinking that sub is going to play 30Hz very well. It's rated to 28, but the -3dB limit is 35... I can get most of my subs to hum by wiggling the cable or perhaps touching the amp or a knob. If it's not doing what you want it to do, I'd get another sub that will.

No, it does EVERYTHING I want it to do, and it plays 30Hz DAMN well, and it even makes 20Hz very noticeable, however it's simply MALFUNCTIONING. The sub POPS like pop-rocks when I simply move the unit and/or tap the box when there's a signal coming into the L/R/LFE ports on the back.
That's it. Oh, low frequency hum when I touch the polarity switch w/o a cable plugged into the back. -

Umm, then how about not moving it or touching it then? Sounds like a short or something like a little corrosion somewhere. Could be the cable; could be internal. I'm sure that touching the switch with it unplugged is a ground loop effect. I don't think that's much to worry about, not do I think it's related to the popping. I'm surprised that sub can play 20Hz. -
Right, it really only happens when I tap it, BUT IT'S STILL A PROBLEM I WANT TO SOLVE!
Could it be damaging the woofer do you think? Corrosion would be bad, too.
Damn.
