Hi all,
About 3-4 years ago, I bought a polkaudio PSW1000 from the local Tweeter store, which is now closed.
Worked great until this week when I noticed a lack of bass.
At this point, I've eliminated the cable and power to the unit as then problem. I doubt my receiver is the problem, but I don't have any way of testing it. No matter what channel the source is on, the sub makes no sound.nso either the sub port on the amp is shot or the sub itself....I suspect the sub.
There is no external fuse....is there an internal one?
What can I check?
Thanks

actually, the fuse is built into the black plastic piece where the cord plugs into. its good. still no sound.

I should mention the green light is on in the front, so it has power...

I would call Polk Audio Customer Service on Monday.
Welcome to Club Polk! -
This thing weighs a ton - I fear the shipping charges, let alone the repair charges....yikes!

My receiver sut the sub output OFF for some reason .I guess it was lightning or surges or something but I went and bought a new sub and nothing. then I looked at the sub setting on my receivers menu....DUH
I really felt stupid. 10 yrs. and no problem with sub performances so I naturally thought sub amp.
I hope yours is an easy fix though. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Error no 1: You bought a sub-woofer from a tweeter store. <--- lol.~Dan
Projector: Epson 705HD on 106" DaLite
TV: Samsung 50" Plasma PN50B550
Receiver: Onkyo 607

Rears: Polk Fxi30
Sub: Velodyne Minivee 10

I've got one of these as well, but mine is actually dead... no power led at all (yes, the fuse is good). I was wondering, should just ship the amp assembly, or do I need to contact anyone first?
Thanks -
I'm in the same boat now with my psw1000. Could someone at polk comment on what the issue or fix has been for these amps, as it seems to be a common/recurring problem.

I don't doubt at all that this is definately an internal pwr amp problem. In my case I had a set of Klipsch 500s w/ a 8in pwred sub and quess what, after fiddling w/ the onscreen settings it turned out that the sub was only at 50% and after readjusting, what an ahhh feeling. Contact Polk customer service on Monday morning. My guess is that as suggested earlier in the thread, you will need to remove the amplifier from the back of the cabinet and return it to our service center for evaluation. The address is Polk Audio 1 Viper Way Vista CA. 92081.

Thanks, but I'm from South Africa. Shipping fee will make this repair to expensive. If someone could just tell me which pin gives the power on signal to the power supply and how many volts I should expect from that pin. Thanks -

Along the way, you might consider replacing the main driver. You will likely need the Theile/Small parameters of any possible replacement driver to use in the Winisd modeling software (freely downloadable) to determine whether a particular driver works well in a particular enclosure.
You could also consider a replacement plate amp from Parts Express or OAudio.
Once you think about different alternatives, you might consider one of the 'proven' DIY options in this forum. If you purchase an amp and driver, then it is a relatively modest step to build an enclosure.
I'm more than willing to pay for a service manual, but cant fin one. Any suggestions? -
Contact Polk Customer Service and explain your situation. They may ask you to provide an address in South Africa but should be able to send you a schematic. Cheers.
