Currently I'm listening to my movies through a Digital coaxial and TrueHD is only available though HDMI. Does TrueHD sound that much better?

IMO yes it does sound better. how much better can only be determined by you though, for me it makes a big difference and I prefer the lossless formats over the others any day.

Of course, it depends on the resolution of your HT, but I would offer a resounding "Yes".-Kevin

I cannot say that I hear much of a difference between any of the DD or DTS formats. IMO it is a lot of hype just like getting a THX lable on your amp.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t

Look at it this way: DTS TrueHD is what SACD is to an mp3. So what you're getting now is a compressed audio track. DTS TrueHD is lossless and much more dynamic in terms of audio reproduction.
Eggs ackly!-Kevin

Just to avoid confusion... It's Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio. But Keiko's comparison is spot on.Equipment list:

With the older formats, DD was slightly more compressed iirc compared to DTS.
As for the new Dolby TrueHD and Master DTS, yeah they're much better than the older DD and DTS formats.Truck setup

It is fantastic. There is no contest in this comparison. Go lossless via HDMI.
I have noticed with BluRay they make much better use of the surround speakers than with the compressed sound on DVDs. If someone says they cannot hear a difference between compressed regular DVD and lossless BR they are either deaf, or have low-end gear.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

This is most likely true but I don't watch enough movies to warrent upgrading at this time.
Years ago I was upgrading my AVR every time a new format came out. First it was D Prologic, then DD, then DTS. Now I have a DD/DTS DVD system and I will wait till I am almost forced to go to the next level. Something in my system has to die or DVD's are no longer available.
I am tired of chasing the technology upgrade game they want you to play. Too much money spent on something I use once or twice a week.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t -
thanks....all
I guess if/when I decided to upgrade I will look at a new reciever that can process the HD signal and 4ohm. -
can you please tell me what is the difference between prologic and DTs?
