Psw

Hi: I bought the RM707 system recently - my first with a psw. The subwoofer emits a low frequency hum whenever it is on - regardless of input (or the lack of it). The hum is loud enough to be heard during the less-action-packed scenes of movies and tv shows and so tends to be quite distracting.

Any thoughts?

many thanks

Michael

Sounds like a short or grounding issue. There could be a short somewhere in the sub or just the interconnect cable. Try changing the sub cable or at the very least pull all the connections and then reconnect.
    Sounds good to me...

Thanks for the advice. I tried that - even tried a different cable, and disconnected the PSW from the receiver. I have figured out that there is a background (and less audible) hum even when the PSW's off/auto/on switch is 'off'. When the switch is in the 'on' position then I get the louder hum/buzz (regradless of whether or not the PSW is connected to the receiver). So I guess it's the subwoofer.
