I noticed the other day while I was moving these speakers around that one of the tweeters have a slight tear. Its not through and through but it seems like the silver on the surface is slightly de-laminated.

When listening to them closely it doesnt look like the tweeter is playing anything anymore.

This is new to me so can I get some tips on how to start troubleshooting this. I am familiar with using a multimeter and soldering iron so I am not afraid to open it up to figure out what is going on.
Not sure if its a problem with the tweeter or the crossover.

Thanks for any help.

Put something like a paper towel roll over the tweeter and listen to it just to make sure it's really playing.

If it's not, you can always pull it out and test it but if the tweeter indeed isn't working it's just time to replace it.

Cstmar01 might have one available since he has a CS350 he is selling (utilizes the same tri-laminate dome tweeter) and someone else on the forum that just recently purchased one.

If you do need one, create a thread on the Wanted section, and goodluck!

do i need to test to see if its the crossover first? Does the crossover for the highs (upper posts on the speakers) include the tweeter and the midrange (middle driver)?

Use just the top posts, that should be the tweeter section only....or at the very least only one bass driver+tweeter.

The tower paper roll method works well since you're isolating the tweeter and listening directly to it.

ok i checked with cstmar about the cs350i tweeter and the numbers on it is SL6001
the rt55i is supposed to have the sl6506 tweeter. will this work? will it sound different if the tweeters in both sets dont match?
