I must say it sure is one heavy son of a gun! I put the pics up for those that didn't believe that I'd ever make the move to a multi-channel amp! :p I started listening in 2 channel mode & I must say that I'm very happy with what I'm hearing!. I don't have the center or surrounds hooked up yet (It'll take a little work & rearranging). So far so good fellows! I can't wait to put Avartar BD on to give it a workout. It looks like I made a great move.

Only the fronts so far. Sounds excellent! Center & surrounds to follow shortly. I have to run new cables for the surrounds & center.

Gordon, I went in a new direction with emphasis more towards HT than 2 channel. The Nikko is up for sale & I'll be posting the Outlaw M2200 monoblock also very shortly.

Maybe someday a Mac will grace my listing room but not for some time to come. I still have hot flashes about the MC 402 though!! :D

The Rotel RMB1095 is a fantastic amp. I'm glad you got one. It's so much nicer to have one 5 channel then a few mono's and a 2 channel. Now I see more theater like speakers in your next upgrade.

Ahh!...twin Velo's! :D Pure muscle power for HT yet delicate w/ authority for 2 channel. I couldn't ask for more.

Now once I get the new amp powering the whole system is when I'm sure I'll be in for a real treat.

Congrats on getting one sweet amp. I own it's little brother, the 1075. I'm not sure about the 1095 but the 1075 barely get warm, even after watching a few movies. Good, reliable amps. And great sound to boot.

Hey glad you like the amp I have had one running for a few years and have really liked it. That being said I am new to Polk speakers and the whole 4 ohm world. As a result I had some concerns/fear and sent Rotel an email to before buying a lsiC 4 ohm center.

I have a McIntosh for my mains so I have no concerns there but here is my email to rotel and their response:

    My email:
I am thinking of getting some 4 ohm speakers - Polk LSI9's & LSIC. I have the RMB-1095 amplifier and I am curious if it will be ok pushing 4 ohm speakers and are there any down sides?

    Response:
    Hello:

Thank you for contacting the Rotel Technical Support Department.

There is a label on the back of the RMB-1095 that states that 4 ohms is the minimum impedance that it can safely handle.

If you use 4 ohm speakers the impedance could drop as low as 2.5 or 3 ohms.
I wouldn't recommend that you use 4 ohm speakers, the 1095 may become unstable at the lower impedances and damage to the amp may occur.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Sounds fishy to me...
    From the RMB-1095 manual:
    Protection Circuitry
The RMB-1095 features a thermal protection circuit that protects the amplifier against potential damage in the event of extreme or faulty operating conditions. Unlike many designs, the RMB-1095 protection circuit is independent of the audio signal and has no impact on sonic performance. Instead, the protection circuit monitors the temperature of the output devices and shuts down the amplifier if temperatures exceed safe limits.
In addition, the RMB-1095 includes overcurrent protection which operates only when load impedances drop below 2 ohms. This protection is independent for the left, right and center channels with separate front panel PROTECTION LEDS for each.

    and...
    Speaker Selection
The nominal impedance of the loudspeaker(s) connected to the RMB-1095 should be at least
    4 ohms.

That's what the rating on the back of most speakers is... nominal.

Boy this is an old post...before I went with a complete LSi package. I've driven the RMB-1095 very hard watching BD movies & it doesn't even get warm. I have no idea why a tech from Rotel would send back such a reply.

I also tried the Rotel RMB-1095, but found it not to have good synergy with my pioneer SC-07 AVR, this was another reason I went with the sunfire TGA5200, the last reason was that my sunfire weights half of what the RMB-1095 weights. :-).

My 1095 definately helped to crispen the sound. The SC-07 is a great AVR, but the Rotel amp took the sound to another level. Enjoy the new addition to your sonic family!!!!
