I have now lost the thimble full of respect that I had for him.
maybe 15 if I had to pick a number, anything over that and I'd lawyer her into the ground.
on second thought, if he is willing to surrender that much bread, maybe she needs to break him for every cent he has, make him homeless. Hey if you going to go out like a punk, you might as go all the way. I'm starting to think she was strapping it on. What's up with his lawyer

He's worth almost 2 billion in cash and assets. Has like 6 houses around the world as well as a yacht worth a couple hundred million.

Beyond all that, who really cares? The guy screwed up and his wife is taking him to the cleaners. It's a bad time for both of them that will perpetuate for a while. Just leave them alone to sort through their business themselves.

I know I couldn't really care less about what is happening with them.

Well thanks I just lost a great deal of respect for most of you in this thread.

Your comments have told me quite clearly where you stand on being faithful to the women you have/will marry who might give you children.

No one forced that dog to marry, but he made the commitment & took the vows, but had no intention of keeping them. If he had stayed single this wouldn't have been any kind of a big deal.

Elin has the kind of looks that you men are always drooling over, but from your comments you all would probably stray as well even though she is so "HOT"!

Some of you continue to confirm for me why I'd rather stay single then get hooked up to any so called man who would rather be a dog!

Maybe there's a clause to make it more managable for Tiger - Perhaps 1 million a year for 750 years or something.

Maybe if a divorce didn't end in one person winning the lottery it would force people to work on their marriages. They might think harder about who they marry, too, and there would be less marriages of convenience.

Their two kids of their get the rawest deal of all -- a single mother.

Demi, how do you work on a marriage when one of them is jumping anything that wears a skirt? Would you be willing to "work" on it?

Agreed about the kids, but at least Elin has enough money to make sure they have comfortable lives, good educations. WITHOUT public assistance. Most single mothers aren't as fortunate.

From my limited understanding of things, divorce + infidelity = ex gets everything. I guess the moral of the story is don't get married if you can't keep it in your pants.

Depends. New York was the last hold out but now it seems all 50 states are no-fault divorce. Means you don't have to prove infidelity for the divorce but if you want to seek damages, it becomes a civil case after that.

I think this was a settlement.....there is a clause in there that she can never talk about the incident...no interviews, no books...no nothing. that alone might be worth it given Tiger will always have income potential as long as someone isn't mucking him through the press.

Tiger was wrong, I think this is a combination of comeuppance, keeping peace, and maybe some redemption thrown in? (he wants this done...QUICK)!!!

    :) NO!

I was more speaking to marriages in general. There certainly are reasons to get a divorce, and what Tiger did to his wife is one of them. I wouldn't put up with a cheater either. Once that line is crossed it can't be uncrossed. How could you ever trust that person again? Maybe better people than me, because I couldn't do it.

Elin deserved money, and not a paltry sum, but I think three quarters of a billion is an expensive settlement. The way this reads is legal blackmail. Would he have lost more in court? I don't know.

Whenever possible, kids need their dads as much as their moms. There are no reports he abused them or was a bad father. He was a bad husband. This seemed to be more about the money than the welfare of their children. They'll be OK financially, but emotionally? They're the big losers.

I just can't flip cartwheels for Elin and thats after losing a tremendous deal of respect for Tiger.

As a Swedish (Swiss?) model, I think she was doing quite alright financially before Tiger. And seriously... "comfortable lives and good education"? I would hope far less than $750 mil would be able supply that.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

"Here's your $750 million dollar question. What could Elin dish on that we don't already know? What's that check cover?"

I think Chris Rock nailed it... men are only as faithful as their options. It might be a little bit hyperbole, but seriously, rich, famous, powerful dudes get a lot of stuff thrown at them. It's gotta be pretty tough to steer clear of all the temptations of sex, drugs, etc. Tiger was definitely an extreme case and is paying an extreme price.

Now I'm going to go remind my wife how lucky she is that I am poor, unattractive, and unknown. :D

The $750 million is the price for containment that Tiger seeks in order to rebuild his image. You can bet Elin must stay silent, never interview, never write a book, etc. or he gets back a hefty chunk.

A few years back my brother, who was a club professional made a point that Tiger must have sold his soul to the devil to do the things he has done on the course. I think he was right, and now the bill has come due. A reputation destroyed, a game no longer feared by other players, and a soul missing.

Good for Elin, but it sucks that her lawyers are going to pocket such a ridiculous amount.

Yes, he did abuse his children, Demi, and he was a bad father.

    How ?

Everytime he cheated on his wife, he doubly cheated on his children.

**** ho's were held in higher regard by Tiger than his own children.

True to a certain degree. It all comes down to the man's morals....and will power.

Hmmm....kinda reminded me of that episode of "Married....With Children" where Al Bundy could've gotten paid to spend a passionate evening with Vanna White....and he chose his wife instead. :D

No, it's about hurt. She's hurt and wants to hurt him as much as he hurt her. Obviously she can't hurt him emotionally because all he cares about is his financial prospects. He's already hurting from the whole Escalade incident and he felt the sting. Since she is hurt she wants to hurt him and the only way to do that is to take money. The more money she takes, the more hurt she doles out to him. If $750m is what she feels is commensurate with her hurt then that's how it goes. But I'm betting it was twice that in the court proceedings and the judge put a stop to the insanity and gave her was was legally "fair".

You can disagree all you want but until you go through a divorce on any level, you won't truly understand the motivations.

Jim Rome nailed it........there must be some deep, dark skeletons in his closet for him to pay that sum of money under the condition that she never speak about it (even after he dies). He is an embarassment to men, fathers, golfers, athletes, etc. More and more society seems to excuse professional athletes, actors and such for their hideous behavior. I, for one, am glad that the general consensus is that this guy is a chump and an insecure, egotistical little boy who doesn't know what to do without his father leading him.
