My new Surround Bar 3000 IHT Doesn't Work

My husband just purchased the SurroundBar 3000 IHT & it is not working. I feel like I have tried everything to fix it but it's not working... at all.
We have a Sony Bravia TV and a cable/DVR box that it is connected to. I have tried changing the audio settings on both of the devices... no change.
I don't understand some of the things that are posted... guess I don't know the language. I could certainly use some help! Please!

How do you have things hooked up at the moment that's not working for ya?
Could just be something minor/overlooked and easily resolved.
Btw, welcome to CP!

When I demoed one of these units, we had the optical cable plugged right into the television. I didn't think it would work being hooked up to the cable box.Shawn

I'm having the same problem, I think. The Soundbar 3000 is not playing audio from cable (cable box - HDMI to TV - optical audio to Soundbar). Ironically, sound works from the DVD player (also hooked up via HDMI to the TV), but the Soundbar is not processing the audio signal from the TV. Any ideas?

Same here and I've asked homebase about this as well. Stay tuned Rags & Loviemac.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks. I need to return it to Crutchfield soon (while I still can), but I'll hold off for a day or two to see if you come up with something from Polk. Much appreciated.

To all,
The Surround Bar 3000 must be given 2 channel (stereo) signal via PCM signal to operate.
What does this mean?
A: Some televisions/cable/sat boxes only carry Dolby digital signal (5.1) signal out via HDMI or Digital Optical. To properly integrate with the Surround Bar 3000 you would need to stop by your local electronics retailer and pick up a Stereo RCA to 1/8" cable (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3909621).
This would allow you to make a direct connection from the cable/sat boxes' analog output directly to source 2 or 3 on the back of the Surround Bar.

Make sure the TV or cable box knows that it can do optical-out. I noted that as a problem before where my TV's speakers had to be set to "external" and the volume turned up to 100% in order to get normal audio to an AVR. I also had to specifically enable the Toslink-Out port; it was lit but it wasn't sending signal.
As I said, I've had that problem before and it's usually buried in menus to enable something that should be on from Day 1. I don't know about the cable-box though; I've heard from someone trustworthy in the industry that many cable/satellite providers disable non-secure outputs on the cable-box, in an attempt (however vain) to foil piracy.polkaudio Monitor 5 Series II

Kyle,
Thanks. That worked. I now have audio. I just hate that it's an analog signal. I have HDMI from the cable box, but then have to 'dumb it down' to a mini jack. Kinda stinks.
