No bass on 5Jr's right speaker

I just hooked up a Sansui 7000 to my 5 Jr's + and I noticed that there is no bass coming out of the right speaker while playing CD's. I played around with the connections and alas nothing. I then unplugged everything and hooked up my Luxman R-341 which I had been using prior and again no bass out of the right speaker.

Did I do something wrong? did inadvertently blow something on the right speaker?

TIA,

When you say no bass, do you mean it lacks the ability to reproduce deep/bass frequencies as opposed to the left speaker? Or is the mid-bass driver simply not active at all?

Maybe a wire came loose within the cabinet, thus disconnecting the woofer from the binding post?
Open'er up and make sure everythings hooked up inside the cabinet :)

While you're at it, just to make sure your driver is working properly just go ahead and connect it straight to your integrated/avr/amp and play it at a low volume. If it was indeed blown or anything, it'll play but it'll sound like crap because you'll normally have the voicecoil rubbing/etc.

Would'nt hurt to take a flashlight and look over the x-over as well. Look for anything burnt/swollen capacitors/etc. Check for solder joints as well.

In the end though it's probably just a loose connection, but in case it's something else those are the things you should look for.

Appreciate the suggestions, but what your saying is over my head. I have the middle part out right now and nothing loose I'll try the bottom part now. If that doesn't work I'm just going to my local audio guy and have him look it.

I took both the mid range and the mid/woofer out and the both looked identical so I don't think it's loose wiring inside. I put everything back together as I found it and then I connected the right speaker to the left side and I could hear the bass, I took the left speaker and hooked up to right side and no bass. Could it be the CD player?

Swap out your interconnects, least we know it's not the speakers now.

Seems that way as I just listed to the FM and they both sound fine now, When you say swap out interconnects do mean the cables connecting the CD player to the receiver? Sorry but as you can tell I'm new to this Ie trying to fix my equipment

    Ah don't sweat it.

Swap only one pair of interconnects (whatever pair that is it's up to you) from left to right and so forth. Resume playback and take note of whether or not the 'lack of bass' has moved from one speaker to another. If it did, then it's one of your interconnects. If nothing, try the other pair of interconnects.

You could do the same for the speaker cables alone as well.

You're only running two components right?

So there are only 1 set of interconnects being used, from receiver -> CD player?

If so, swap them out by either; getting a different pair of interconnects and replacing them with those OR taking the cable thats connected to the left channel, and swap it with the cable that's connected to the right channel.

    Correct
"the cable that's connected to the left channel, and swap it with the cable that's connected to the right channel" would that be the red & white ie red connects to red & white connects to white?

Top one is before, bottom one is after.

Simply swap the cables and see if the 'lack of bass' moves from one speaker to the other.

I'm sorry I really am but I'm still confused as to what your suggesting in the diagram. Red goes in red and white in white are you suggesting I plug white into red and vice versa? again
