I should have shot some photos while we were packing these up. But I don't think any of you would have enjoyed seeing sweaty photos of us...

Chris was great to work with. He headed out from my place about 20 minutes ago after an agonizing process of boxing the Amazing's up. I believe he's off to Audio Perfection for some hifi goodness... wish I could join you, Chris!

All pieces are now OFFICIALLY sold and delivered to their respective buyers. Thank you all, and happy listening!

Congrats Dane, and Chris... I wanted thos Amazings, but I am even happier to see them go to a great guy and a good home. Sitting in my mother's garage for a few months would not have been a good way to treat them.

Thank you so much again Dane for letting me pick these bad boys up, I'm so happy with them its not even funny. Even my buddy who has no idea what is what said after he helped me set them up, "wow it sounds like you have a live band playing in your place, this is sooo cool!"

I am not sure why I can't post a positive feedback for Dane. It says the URL is invalid. Anyway, the amp is excellent, just as described. Thanks. Jim

Did you try Page 1 or Page 2, I'd say try the other if the first one didn't work. Dane's a good guy, dealt with him before...he always delivers :D

I'll vouch for those speakers and the amp sounding outstanding, my first seriously good sounding speakers were those Silver Oaks driven by the TFM-55 and the CT-18 hybrid preamp. I got them all for half price when the Good Guys discontinued carrying Carver. I also had a Carver CD player and the top of the line Bang & Olufson turntable. That was also my first MIT speaker cables bought from an audiophile in San Francisco that had the most expensive system I had ever seen at that time. He wanted to hear the system I was putting them in so I invited him over and we spun records for about five hours. When we were wrapping it up he told me it had been years since he had been able to enjoy music and a system that much, that even though he had tens of thousands in his system he wasn't happy with it's synergy the way mine sounded.

I think that's what got me serious about system synergy and weak links.

The way I've downsized my system makes me want this stuff. :)

Whatever you do, don't listen to a set of Platinums. You'll be coming down with a bad case of upgradeitis. Glad you like the Silvers, they are fantastic speakers. The ALS series is well named indeed. They sound like no other speaker I've heard. Have fun tweaking your setup, their room position can make a huge difference in the sound

yeah the room I have them in right now isn't the correct set up. They are too close to the outside walls and not the full 3 feet from the back. I just put them in there for the time being see I didn't have time to move everything around in the larger room to put them in.

According to Sterophile review my speakers suck lol, just goes to show that not everyone has the same taste!

and maybe some day I will get a chance to find a pair of the Platinums, however rare, if I can find them around here they might be mine...that is if I can find the help to move them into my place...they're heavy!

You should try adjusting the depth position too... I thought they sounded better closer to the wall. Every room is different. Not easy to move those beasts, though!

Yep, distance from side and back walls, toe-in and tilt all change the sound. If you go for Plats in the future, plan on a new amp too. Those suckers like a lot of juice. Most of the "audiophile" mags trashed Carver equipment. They couldn't stand the thought that he could produce equipment that sounded every bit as good as the high end class A manufacturers that charged 10 times what Bob was charging. Their loss, our gain. You want to hear something really sweet, try your Silvers powered with tube gear. Ribbons and tubes are a match made in heaven.
