James,
I don't have a HT setup now, so I'm getting into it piecemeal. I'm looking at HT receivers in the $1k range to replace my old Onkyo. In the $1000-$1500 range, Rotel and NAD seem to be the category killers according to my research on this forum - and they drive 4 ohm. For $1800 retail, you can get Rotel's flagship RSX-1065 (100wpc), and for $1300 retail, you can get the RSX-1055 (75wpc). NAD has a similar lineup for a little less $: NAD T762 (100wpc) for $1300 retail and NAD T752 (75wpc) for $900 retail. I haven't heard anything negative at all about NAD, however people share stories about the RSX-1065 that are damn near religious experiences. Once I get the receiver, then center & surrounds will come. I'm thinking about a cheap-o sub initially, with an upgrade down the road if I need it - The LSi15s have good bass down to 35 Hz, so I only need the sub to shake the floor at 50Hz down.
I agree with posts that RT line is best in class. I was about to pull the trigger on the RTi-70s before I decided to splurge a bit more. I'm personally glad I did - it was worth it.
Good luck with your decision!

Since agreeing to disagree doesnt seem to work for you two, may I be so bold as to suggest that you both use the Ignore List feature?More later,

check and balance is always good Tour... Mantis and Troy do a good job. Mantis should cool down a bit. Troy, good job maintaining your composure.

Let me guess... Kimber cables give a superior workout to Stock Universal gym cables, right?
Glad you had a good day, and I suspect Troy would be as well. Unfortunately though, his chance for a day like yours or even a simple dinner with "the Lovely", is still months away...
You posted earlier that you know where his buttons are... good, then you can avoid them. And he yours and we can all benefit from your opinions without the extraneous exchanges...
Sorry if you feel I turned on you a bit here... It's just that this bickering is getting old...More later,

Robodel,
I like NAD. I have a NAD powering up my SRS's. At the show, Polk used Rotel.
James -
jdavy,
Tell us more about the show..I heard Paul Dimarco demo them today at HE2003.
Polk was using Rotel? Which Polk speakers and which Rotel product? LSi line or RTi or both?
Thanks. I have a Rotel receiver and others here do too. We would love to hear more about it. Sorry to derail a little but it is somewhat related.
Paul -
P.S. jdavy, I like NAD too.
Paul -
They're both really good speakers. It's a matter of taste. I'm not sure if this has been said yet in this thread but I'll use one of Dan's analogies.
LSi - Like a finely tuned italian sports car.
RTi - Like a classic muscle car
They both do the job well, but both have their good and bad. Sometimes I wish I had some RTi150's instead of my LSi15s (doesn't usually last long though!)
Oh and Dan, no offense.... but dude... you coulda sprung for a little nicer chandalier or something. -
The show was nice. I was primarliy looking for a new display for my HT. I was looking at the plasma tv's, sony's grad vega, DLP and Sony's SXRD.
Polk was next to registration so they had a huge turnover and short demo. Sony had a nice display and showed off most of the ES line. They had the SXRD demo and a beautiful 61" XBR Plasma. If you have 20K that HDTV plasma was nice. As for front projection, I liked both the DLP and the SXRD. Sony says that they will have a SXRD product in the market by Chrismas. DLP was awsome. If you have to choose between the Sony Grand Vega and the Samsung DLP rear projections I think DLP is the best.
Macintosh had a nice display and showed some nice things at the 30-50k level.
Sony had a SACD demo that was very nice. I had to make my trip to the show breif with a new born at home. It is father's day tomorrow and I would love a new display but I am waiting for a Directivo unit that is a HDTV decoder for both satalite and off of the air. Perhaps Christmas time.
As for the RTi and LSi I am happy with my RTi's and will keep put for now.
Let me know if you want to know more about the HE2003 show. -
Tour2ma,
LOL..thats pretty fummy there man.I would have to take that up with the gym owner to get some Kimbers in there for a better over all workout.......
The bickering is behond old........I completely sick of it.
Phuz,
