No... it is not. This is not open for debate.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

Nice list, not sure if LOTR be considered scifi though. Maybe give that nod to district 9 or maybe minority report. Definitely best for the adventure/fantasy movies though by far.
Here's a few more
Horror: 28 days later
Chick flicks:p: High fidelity... Not sure if you could call this a chick flick, maybe a chick flick for guys;) but tt deals with a guy trying to get over a long term relationship Its a smart and funny movie (a rarity for comedies these days). If you haven't heard it check it out.AVR: H/K AVR240

Yea, I sort of lump fantasy adventure and sci fi into 1 category for some reason when I think of movies.
District 9 was good, as was the new Star Trek (which was surprising for me.) For pure Sci Fi, Moon blew my mind the first time I saw it. The original Matrix was good imho, but it barely misses the cut.
High Fidelity; nice choice for a chick flick. Definitely one of the more stomachable in that genre. If you want to show her you "really care", watch The Notebook. She'll ball her eyes out, and you'll look that much more "compassionate".2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

You make me cry infinite tears of sadness whenever you post. I, too, like to "feel".
And how can you not agree that Requiem for a Dream is the WORST movie of that decade? It's obvious, right? Just try to think of a WORSE movie. You can't.I never had it like this where I grew up. Gigli? That movie made me cry too.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

As bobman is alluding to, Requiem for a Dream is "good bad".
Seven was another film that I loved to hate. I ran through that end scenario a million times trying to decide if I'd shoot or not, and I honestly still don't know. It bothered me, but what a great film. MUCH better than these cheesy horror films that try to scare you with excessive gore/violence. I want something to get in my head for days at a time; that's when I know I've seen a good film.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Nice list Xcapri. I'd personally take Cinderella Man for 2005, but past that that's a solid list of good movies.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

I guess I liked LOTR best, and of those, I thought The Two Towers was the best.
I also liked Kill Bill, esp. Vol.1. -
This list is too easy, everyone knows about those movies. And most of those already listed are junk. Just sayin'.
The hidden gems off the radar are the ones I look for. Korean film, Bin-Jip- 3-Iron, really good.
Funny story about Raging Bull back when it came out. My sister wants to take our dad to go see the new DeNiro/Scorcese movie about a middleweight fighter. ( My dad's from the Bronx, he's a fight fan. I remember growing up in the 50's, B & W TV Friday Night Fights.)
So she's explaining the storyline to him, trying to remember the guy's name. I chime in "It was Jake LaMotta. It's supposed to be a true story."
And my dad's all " No way am I going to go watch a movie about that bum."
It turns out my dad grew up in the same tenement building as the LaMottas, he's the same age as the younger brother Joey- whom my dad did not get along with at all.
Jake was closer to the age of my now-deceased uncles. No one messed with him, and some of the stories my dad recalled about the guy were just creepy-crazy. -
Anyone for Blood Diamond?
Chris
This was on tv in the morning a while back. Considering what time of day it was and the fact I never heard of it before, I thought it would be junk. Boy, was I wrong, I was hooked for the entire movie. I can't stand watching R movies on tv so it is probably that much better on DVD (and maybe some sliippage from Jennifer connelly?;):p)AVR: H/K AVR240

Toy Story 3, another Pixar masterpiece, and arguably their best work yet.

Though not in the past decade, the best movie ever made in my opinion is One flew over the cuckoos nest. First saw it in a psyc class in high school in 1979 I think. I was hooked ever since. Also mentionable is Jaws....a true classic. (I am old I know)
