You know that wouldn't be a bad idea. There were a lot of great messages in some of the episodes.

True Joe, but the general public is more interested in the message of shows like Jersey Shores...Real Housewives of....ET....Playboy Girls, than any other, dear I say, moral message.

I like a good constitutional debate. Makes you realize how far we have strayed from it.
Hope it also makes more people interested in reading it,understanding the framers intentions, and how that applies today.

I was going to say Joe, I think showing some of the Star Trek episodes would be by far better than some of the other drivel they show in schools.

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Star Trek isn't politically correct nowadays, although it was very inclusive for the times. The male dominance and male/female stereotypes often depicted in the series just wouldn't fly today.

I guess people should just realize how things were designed to work. Interactions between people, interactions between humans and animals, interactions between oh wow, should I say it???????? A higher power (God) and humans. Now this post was way out of line, wasn't it??

That's what I like about many of the Star Trek episodes, is that they deal with these issues.

In what ways have we really strayed from the Constitution...and when we speak of the framers intentions and how that applies today, I give you the following:

    Huh?

It was ground breaking for smashing stereotypes!

An Asian as part of the command crew?

A Black as part of the command crew?

There was a recent Biography channel show on the History Channel where Nichelle Nicols who played Uhura said she was about to quit the series and she was approached by Martin Luther King who strongly urged her to stay on the series because she portrayed a woman of color with position, dignity, and honor.

Yes - there are some aspects of STOS that are somewhat dated, but many many themes are timeless.

    Yes I mentioned that
Perhaps you missed it! That said, it played to male dominated stereotypes particularly where the main characters of Captain Kirk and Spock were concerned.

You will note changes to this in subsequent movies and series, where women took on stronger roles.
A similar evolution took place with the James Bond films as well.
I suppose that we should be showing James Bond films too since they clearly differentiated good vs evil.
Those concepts have become blurred and even reversed in today's current events.

Well...maybe...but the story lines and scripts went to **** in STNG - I gave up on that series for any meaningful story lines and acting.
