What do you think about this speaker cable?

I'm thinking about buying some of this cable for the mains, SDA 2B's. They are going through the XO upgrade with RDO-198 tweets, mortite and dynamat tweaks. This cable is a mix of silver and copper. Thinking about using this for both regular and interconnect for the 2B's. What do you think about this cable?

Thanks Knucklehead! Did not realize there was another thread with this wire. From the sounds of it, this wire might not be the best route. I like what I saw on that other thread, and the links I found there. Appreciate the help. :)

If you go for the 100% copper, you should consider the Furez wire from AV-Outlet also.

I'm using their 12-2 wire and it's really good stuff. The 14-4 specs are a little better than the 4S11 and it's a little cheaper too.

speaking of speaker wire. Does the brand really matter or can you go to your local hardware store and purchase cheap stuff for 20 cents a foot?

Yes, what Tony said. There's enough debate threads to keep you reading for weeks.

I made mine even cheaper than that, I stole a few boxes of paper clips from one of my clients and I straightend each one and tied them together and it sounds so nice!

Ha I stole all the coat hangers from a laundry mat and made mine.....nothing looks better than BEHRINGER amps with some computer speakers and coat hagers...oh and my source is a 80 dollar CD player....best ever!!!! :p

A bit overpriced if you ask me.

    $2.75/ft + $5.75 and .20c a foot for shipping

16 feet would cost $53, while not outrageous Canare Star Quad is probably as good for less.

I definetely am not knocking any aftermarket wire's. Being an audiophile in the 80's I learned that the better equipment responded to costly wireing. I still have a pair of pricey 8ft Straightwire Maestro's from that decade. I ran across this article awhile back and decided to give it a try. This wire recipe done as stated work's very very well. I did not put the end's on they suggested but simply tinned them with my soldering gun.

You know I've seen that before. I might just give that a try. The cost is low enough so that if I really don't like them, I won't feel too bad. :D
