No. He estimated 79. She was going 82. He dropped it down to 70.

Where does it say he estimated 79? It seems to read that he estimated 70 but the actual speed as measured by the gun was 82. So he was off by 12 mph.

Perhaps they'll be training blind cops to estimate speed by ear. ;)

Seriously, my kids hear a loud car and they automatically assume it's going too fast...

Whatever happened to "innocent before proven guilty" ? Does not the state have to provide proof of your guilt? A cops word is proof ? If thats the case, Rodney King deserved it. I can't see how this would hold up in the higher courts, and I just can't wait for a white cop telling a black motorist he estimated his speed at..... Well, it will give Jesse and Al something to do anyway.

I've lived in OH for a little less than 8 years. Use I71 and I75 regularly. I've been pulled over twice, and both times I was going more than 10 miles over the limit. I ALWAYS set my cruise to 9 miles over the limit, and never slow down when I see a trooper. Never had a problem (By the way, I hate when people go a bit over the limit, see a trooper an slow down to 5-10 miles below the limit. So stupid and dangerous).

Smart man! Cruise control is how I avoid speeding fines also, and I don't slow down either at the sight of a patrol car ... in fact, I sometimes pass out all those that are slowing down like you described (if I can do so without any abrupt maneuvers that might attract the ire of said patrol vehicle occupant).

I've always hated driving through Ohio. On I-75, everyone is afraid to speed more than about 5 over. The truckers don't speed either, but they will block both lanes for miles just to overtake another truck that is going about 0.3 MPH slower.

Sounds like I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix!

Maybe the officer was ****-eyed, thus throwing off his judgement. Was it the good eye ..? or the the one that doesn't quite see so clear as the law seems....? I ponder.

I hated that stretch of highway, No scenery, straight 2 lane road for 90 minutes, tons of cops, traffic that can back up for miles due to idiots driving slow in the left lane. At least they are expanding it to 3 lanes. Maybe in 10 years, all 3 lanes will reach Phoenix
