Hi,

I bought a pair of Energy C-1 speakers and I like them. They sound better than Polk S-4 (vintage) speakers.

1. Spoken voice sounds more natural.

2. String instruments sound very smooth.

3. Bass goes down deeper than the Polk at low volumes.
Drums sound more realistic.

How does Energy compare to newer Polk speakers?

    ncw,
speakers are very personal.Energy better then polk simply can't be decided.....only by the person shopping for them.Seems like you like the Energy's better.

I think Energy makes a nice speaker. There speakers sound good driving with something neutral or to the warmer side.Energy to me seem to be on the bright side.

    I perfer Polk over Energy.

It also depends on which Polks you're trying to compare them to...Rti or Lsi.

    Either Rti or Lsi. Pricewise:

    C-1 vs Rti28
    C-3 vs RTi38 ($120 cheaper)
    C-5 vs RTi70

I'm aware it's going to be hard to find both brands in the same store. I'd be happy to hear any comparison that anyone may have - fair or not.

Man that's exactly how I feel about my LSi's. Especially the string stuff, just incredible.

Both are excellent speakers for your money. Be prepared to spend some money for a powered subwoofer.
